    Default M10 vs M30

Hi, Im having trouble deciding to go for either a pair of M10 or M30 for my rear.

My current Setup, 7.1 / Yahama HTR6160 Receiver

    2x Monitor 60 front
    CS1 for center
1 Pair of Monitor 40 for Surround Left and Right

either M10 or M30 for the Surround back?

Are there any substantial differences between the M10 and M30? (Aside from Price)

I am assuming you mean Monitor 30's? I don't know much about the M10's but I have the Monitor 40's for my surrounds (as you do) and they work great. Why not just get another set of Monitor 40's and call it a day. The Monitor 30's will be a better timbre match for your already full Monitor setup than the M10's would be (I think) so if I had to make a recommendation between the two I would say the 30's. How big is the room, what are the dimensions?

Even though there are M10s and M20s those are NOT really part of the M-series which starts with the M30s and moves to M40s, M50s, M60s, and M70s? The centers are the CS1 and the CS2 and that's what you need to match up.

Now for rear surrounds you could substitute the OWM speakers by Polk...which are lighter, thinner and easier to mount and AIM. As the M30s and M40s are bulky. Or you could use the M10s although they have a different 'tweeter' than the regular M-series 1" (they have the 3/4"). But as rear surround is not as critical in perfect matching, you certainly could use M10s in that position with other Ms mentioned above.
