For you car fans, check out Adam Carolla's new podcast. http://www.adamcarolla.com/CarCastBlog/

I am reminded of it because this week he had Jay Leno who brought in his heavily modified Corvette. Badass.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

My wife has a thing for the new Camaro. I started looking at cars again, and
it's the only one that didn't suck. When did the car market get so bad?

If you like that, you'll love Jay's site: Jay Leno's Garage (.com). He has all kinds of stuff there including his motorcycles. There is a video explaining each vehicle and test drive video also. Way cool.

Leno is a great car guy. I would love to see his entire collection.

I have had 1 cousin and 2 friends pick up new vettes in the last year, 2 of them sold their Harley's and bought the car instead.

My dad surprised the hell out of me last week and said he was picking up a new yellow Camaro Has anyone here sat in one/ driven one yet ?

I have driven a 2009 model, not the 2010. Was fun for about 30 seconds but not my personal choice for a sports car. To big and clunky imo. Cosmetically though, ok to look at but does kinda remind me of a concept car gone bad.

Your Mom is 60 and she's going to drive a CORVETTE!!! Good luck with that...those are basically performance cars that are 'horrible' for driving in town or slow traffic. Their engines are too POWERFUL for normal driving.

I drove my sister's around town once and it was one of the worst handling vehicles for that kind of driving I've ever experienced...

But they look great and I bet they're great over 100 MPH...handle great when you're exceeding speed limits.

I wonder how she will find it? Has she driven anything like that before??

What year model did you drive? I drove a 2008 C6 with auto that a customer bought and let me drive. Around town is was as easy as any high end sedan (BMW, Lexus, etc.) I've ever driven. The ride was excellent, steering was effortless...just like any other street car one might drive. Once you stepped on the accelerator it was something totally different...in a very good way...but around town it was a breeze to drive.

Can't remember but this was a while before 2008...probably an early 2000 something?

The problem is acceleration...the car accelerates too fast unless you have a 'surgical' FOOT. Gas peddle too responsive among other things.

I'm sure if I took it out on the Highway I would've been happy with it. I also found it's shift a bit tedious...don't know much about these models.

I wouldn't go that far! I usually have an 11 year old in the car...so I'm not going to pretend I'm still in my teens or 20s. As a foolish teen I opened my father's Plymouth up full throttle on the highway. Think it did about 115 before it felt like the body was going FLY APART. Those years are gone..and rightly so. These days I let my mind and body do the talking.

    It's all cool..

    Agreed.

I like my sports cars under 3000lbs and small. :D

    Bonus points for under 2500lbs.

I think BigMac was referring to the Camaro...besides the C6 is only 3217 lbs and the Z06 is down to 3,180. Small enough for me...especially given the HP/Lb ratio.

As to a 60 year old woman driving a Corvette...there is a lady in her mid 60s that works in our building that alternates between her full size Hummer and her 911 Turbo. She doesn't seem to have any trouble handling either one on the street.

Yep. Seems i did read that wrong.

Same kindof applies to the vettes for me, though.... In my personal formula for a sports car, HP is near last in the equation. I wont complain if i get a buttload of it, but i'm more interested in how it feels in the twisties.

But that's just me. I like vettes, just not enough to own one.

I was talking about the Camaro. At 3800lbs. it felt like it was going to slide off the road when cornering. I had to take corners very early so I could slide the car around the turn. I got on it pretty hard but the salesman was about to crap his pants so I chilled (some young kid). When we got back I had used up all of the 1/4 tank of gas they had in it. The engine smalled like rotten ass as well when we got back. Must have been burning off something because it was new. Or it could be that the kid crapped his pants now that I think of it. I never did see the kid again, just the sales manager who was trying his hardest to sell me the car. I told him from the get go that I was interested in driving it but not buying it. Guess they thought that if I drove it I would have a change of heart............nope.

Damn, that bad huh ? I will be going with him and driving it myself as well, he doesnt require extremely good handling....as a matter of fact most of his cars have been comfortable tanks with monster horsepower ( That is a must ).

I remember as a teenager getting into a lot of trouble with his Oldsmobile Delta 88 with the Rocket 455 motor :D....so thats more his type of car.

I am sure we will be driving quite a few cars when we go, all he based wanting the Camaro on was seeing one while driving.

They used to rock and rock hard!!! I will buy American again, but IMHO and to pick on General Motors, Cadillac should be the equal of Bentley. Buick should be the equal of Jaguar/Mercedes. Pontiac(RIP) should have been a combination of Audi/Acura. Saturn needed to become more like Honda amd Chevy needed to go towards Hyundai/Toyota. When the General can build a car as good as my big Jag, I will be back.;)

I'd love a new Pontiac G8 GT...not really American (since its built in Australia), but still has a LS pushrod V-8 engine! They are every bit as good as any Japanese or German car.
