Default What do I need to replace??

Just dug out a 20 year old Technics SL-BD27 turntable. This thing has seldom, if ever been played, but I thought this might be a good starter to get into vinyl. Well, I hook it up and got not sound. I replace the needle and now I get sound if I turn the volume waay up on my AVR. What is a likely cause of this? Should I try to replace the cartridge or maybe just forget about it and find another turntable (or more likely continue on without a turntable)?

I may be wrong on this, but I think you will need a phono preamp, between the TT and the rcvr. UNLESS, you have SPECIFIC rca jacks for a TT signal?
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

I agree. I don't think his AVR has a phono stage.

Paul, I will let you borrow my Phono Stage when you come to pick up the carver

I have a friend who is selling his Parasound Zphono. Nice units and his is not very old, 4 months. He will take $100 for it, is going tube.

That TT will be a nice way to get back into vinyl.

I thought this might have been the case, but wasn't sure so I had it hooked up via the TAPE input:o. Thanks!

Tracy, I hope I'm stopping by to pick up that amp:D
