Default Sold my Dynaudio Audience 82's today....

    Whats up guys??

Well I finally got around to selling my Dynes and I'm now moving on the Mythos ST's. For the first time I feel slightly sad. I love my Dynes and for music I still to this day have not heard a speaker under 3000.00 that beats them. I'm moving into a more theater system and really want that killer dynamic range the Mythos ST's bring. Not to mention they are an Incredible double duty speaker. I know in a few months I'm gonna want another set of Dynes. They are a passionate speaker as some of you know who own them. When you want to sit down and listen , they are your guys. I'm gonna spend my last moments with them this weekend. Then I ship them out monday. I also sold the rears. Again another musical masterpiece.

    Just look at them:):(:):(

Are you getting the ST's or STS's

Sorry to hear they are leaving - I know from numerous posts you have made about them - you really liked them.

Just to ask the obvious question - why didn't you just build a theater around them? (for for home theater - are the Mythos speakers better? - I have not heard either so I truely do not know)

Anyway - good luck with your sale and enjoy your new speakers.

I hope so. I'm getting Mythos ST's. The big dogs. The STS's are extremely temping and cheaper. They give you about 90% or so of the ST's. Killer speakers.

The Dynaudio Audience series was good for theater until you hear a full Mythos series go. The Dynamic range and impact the Dynes simply didn't have a match. They where on the other hand extremely musical and can probably beat out the Mythos series there. I did however upgrade the Sub amp with higher caps and it has some damn head room now. It's an impressive sub and I will also miss it when it goes. Freeing up floor space is nice, my wife wants to put her mirror back in the room . I found it to hinder the Dynes system with the mirror there. So I got it out. Now I'm willing to gie her back the room and get powered towers.

Sorry for your loss...my thoughts & prayers are with you. All kidding aside, it sounds like you made the right move & will be very, very pleased with the Mythos. I'm sure the Dynes will always be in your heart but the memories will fade as the Mythos kick some ass themselves!!! Enjoy!!!. When you're all set up I'm ready for a road trip to check them out.

Good move, I've always found Danes boring to listen to.

I'm glad somebody is getting the Mythos. I did consider them at one point.

You seem pretty attached to your Danes. I feel the same way about my Tyler Linbrooks, at least for now.

How so? Never once I felt that way. I can support your point with movies, even then maybe not , they are just not extremely dynamic unless you pump a ton of power to them.

The Mythos series is very dynamic and wonder for movies. I'm so into them. I can't wait to they come in.

I just got my Mythos system in last week and so far am very pleased. The Mythos ST are much happier running off an AVR than the Paradigms were and look stunning when paired up with a plasma and black gear to compliment them. It took a few days for the bass to really open up, but I was really pleased to hear them handle music duties as well as the Studio 100's and offer a much fuller sound. They are deceivingly heavy, have a friend on standby to unbox them.

Mantis, you will be pleased that I stepped up to the ST and Mythos 10 combo. I had to go with some BPVX in the rear due to my layout and design, so its not a complete Mythos system with Gems, but fairly close. I am waiting to have my painting finished before posting pics. I haven't setup the Supercube Reference to see if I am happy with just the ST's for now.

I got the Sub 500. It's a musical masterpiece. I love it for that duty. Up until I upgraded the caps in the sub amp, It was pretty good for theater but lacked the "slam " mode. I always went musical over theater but now with the new amp, it has movie mode. It's a fantastic sub. I got it up for sale as I will no longer need it for the Mythos system.

The 52se's are a special speaker. I love them . Such a warm and beautiful speakers to kick back and listen to some Norah Jones. I plan on building a 2 channel rig and I will have Dynaudio Contour 5.4's or if I can find a older pair of clean 3.0's that would be cool. I even would like to own a pair of 1.8mkII's They are one of my favorite Dynaudio speakers of all time.

I don't see you needing the Supercube. The St's are powerful and deep. The BPvx , why did you go with them??? Why not use 10'd for the rears. Even a pair of 9's would have really made your system special. but the BPVX will work they just don't match perfectly for music. They work for theater. We have them in our theater room and I can dig them with the St's and 10 center.

Love to see some pic's. I will be posting my pics once I get them all setup.

I went with the BP's due to the setup in my family room downstairs. The couch sits directly against the wall with no real way to move it forward of the wall and flat mounted speakers without be aesthitically awkward. I spoke to a couple guys at Def Tech and a local installer and they recommened going with the BP's to help get the sound more forward of the sitting position instead of directly parallel with it. The family rooms is fairly small so I hope they do well in the room. I had considered going with the Gem XL or Nine in the rear, but decided to give the BP's a chance for the time being. Actually, they are the BP2X now that I looked at the box (LOL) and were fairly inexpensive at the discount I got. Worse case is I will upgrade to some Nine or Ten's down the line if they will give me the imaging I am looking for in HT use. Downstairs will be predominately a HT system with the ST's handling the music in stereo. Upstairs will be more of a dedicated HT room with SACD and DVD-A a factor. I am currently builing up my Studio v5 system, but may be switching to another all out ST system or even the Polk LSi's. The need for a dedicated amp for the Studios makes the LSi's appealing again, since an amp will be needed either way. However, the room is large enough for at all ST system with the sole Ten as a center. I currently have two pairs of ST's, and looked at using them in a 5.1 system downstairs, but again, the seating position just really limits the setup and would have the rear ST pair right next to the couch ends blarring away.

Got everything installed downstairs for 5.1 yesterday after playing the ST's for about a 100 hrs. Two conclusions thus far:

1- The system is completely content running off an AVR once I got the PS3 and AVR to sync up correctly for digital surround sound.

2- I will definately not need a seperate sub after having the ST's shake the entire house.
