Default Epik Sentinel vs. SVS PB12-Plus

Does anyone has any experience with Epik Sentinel? How is this sub compare to SVS PB-12 Plus? Which one is a better buy?

Both are very good, but go for the SVS!

I'd take the Sentinel for performance and the SVS for looks.
The sentinel is $300 cheaper and has more output.

Go to AVSForum.com lots of info on there.

It's $300 cheaper, smaller and is probably a great sub. I can't see how it's going to have more output or extention than the Plus. The SVS is helped too much by physics. However, Chad is very proud of that sub. It would be interesting for someone to do a full blown comparo.

guys, what is comparable to the Epik Sentinel. I am in the hunt for a sub too around that Sentinel price. How is this sub compare to Sunfire True Subwoofer MK II? Which one a more punch? For quality, size and reliability under $800, what is the most recommended sub you guys recommend? What about Elemental Design??

Never heard a Sunfire sub, but I do know of several who have upgraded out of them. I don't remember what their choices were, but what I remember was the description that the Sunfire(s) in question had lots of output in the mid band, but were boomy in comparison. In your price range, the eD A5-350, A7S-450, the Sentinel, the Hsu 3.3, the SVS PB12NSD and the Outlaw LFM EXs all get good reviews. The greatest risk/reward is likely the AV123 MFW15. There's been some problems with the company and with the amps on this unit, but it's highly regarded. The amp replacements seem to be working well. A few have hum issues that get solved with cheater plugs. I'm iffy on that one, due to AV123 practices and reliability, but you won't find any owners that have new or "fixed" MFWs that don't rave.

Frankly, getting any one of those subs is going to put a big smile on your face. It's almost impossible to quantify a "best" sub. Choose one that fits your budget and room. Then write your own review.

    Ron,
Loooking at the dimension and the wattage, it seems like Sentinel is the winner. I could not get to pull ED website. Their review seem pretty good also but not sure about their customer service though.

I am leaning towards Sentinel or SVS PB12 NSD or the ED (but doubt the website).....but Sentinel seems to have the heaviest which makes me want to get it even more. Anyone selling it here?? maybe will get used if there is one out there.

eD is reputable and has great customer service. The finishes have improved and both their 15 ported and 18" sealed sub will have more output than any of the other choices. They are also the biggest, heaviest and ugliest (eh, they're not that ugly anymore). I've got friends who I respect that have owned their upper end subs, the A7-900 and A7-650 and they swear by them against any competition. However, they don't (at least they didn't) apply any eq curves to the amps, but let the box dictate the extention you'll likely get. It seems to work well.

From all reports the Sentinel is a great sub. If it's calling you get it.

I've had a pair of Sentinel's for about a month now. I'm still experimenting a bit with room placement, and they have very few hours. I have to say they are working equally well for music and HT; tight, but easily able to extend below 20hz. I'm planning to post a more complete write up after I've spent some more time with them, but thus far I am very impressed. I have not heard the SVS, so I cannot make a direct comparison. If someone's got a PB12-Plus, or knows of a place to hear one, I'd be up for a comparo.

With Epik, I liked the fact that I was able to pick the subs up directly at the factory. The customer serivice is great. Never had a problem reaching them by phone, and the owner of the company was even there to help me load them in to my truck.
