Default What room dimensions are best for HT

I'm looking into building a log home in the next few years. I will have a 2 or 3 car garage added to the side with a room built above it. What would the ideal HT room be. Length, width, height, or anything else you could think of.

I'm actually going to design the room around a home theater so I can do whatever I want with it. It's going to be at least 7.1, (or more if some new technology is out by the time I start building) so keep that in mind.

I'll probably be using pretty much the same setup that's in my sig. Well at least the same sub. There's no telling what I'll really have by then, but I'm sure the ultra will stay.

Default room size and speaker placement

I have found this article verify informative.
From George Cardas (yes that Cardas)

Once you have your room designed yo might want to run this accoustic anylsis...Alot easier to actually PLAN where you place panels vs having to put them in front of wdws ect..

The new technology is already here.;) With Dolby Pro-logicIIz and Audyssey DSX, you can now have both front height and width channels. Height channels are placed near the ceiling, directly above your front L/R, and the width channels are placed in front on the left and right, but spaced farther apart than the normal front L/R.

Yep. The only AVR I know of that currently supports them both, is the Onkyo TX-NR807, which just came out recently.

It's also got dual subwoofer outputs, making it 11.2!

That is a dream of mine. One thing I would suggest is make it acoustically isolated so no boom boom car can intrude into the room, and no sound can escape from the room.

I checked out your pictures, and the room looks great. Hopefully I can pull something like that off. It's funny how that huge screen makes those speakers look kinda small. My csi a4 looks huge over my 50 inch plasma, and I think your center is a good bit bigger then the a4.

I really have no idea what to do with my room though. I still have plenty of time to think about it though, and unlike most of my HT purchases I'm going to research this and make sure it's done right.
