    Default Spiking a Subwoofer

Spiking SDA's has proven to be very effective at improving bass response but has anyone spiked a powered subwoofer on a carpeted concrete floor? I'm gonna try it and see if there is an improvement....results to follow.

Never tried it or heard one spiked but I don't see why not. I'm building my own sub, and went on a search for random pics of DIY subwoofers and I noticed that there were close to 0 subs spiked.

I'd be VERY careful using spikes on a sub. Depending on their weight & excursion, they could dig pretty significant holes into your subfloor~

Not sure if that would help or not but you won't know until you try it.

I just got some spikes for my sub. As soon as I find a 9mm drill bit I am going to set it up. Since the carpet is pretty close to the bottom port, I can't help but think that a little more space will result in better sound. I'll let you know.

My eD sub came with screw in spikes, also some small discs to place between the spike tip and floor if desired.

Raising the sub from the (carpet / concrete / wood) floor will improve bass response from the sub. It has been tried and proven that if you raise the sub at least 6"-12", you can hear better mid-bass even though the lower bass is non-directional.

Auralex Subdude is probably the easiest way to uncouple the sub from the floor.

I spiked them and the bass response is much better, no doubt about it.
