Did the Forestry Service put a lightning rod on that tree ? If so, nice job.

I saw this earlier...that is absolutely amazing!
I camped out in Sequoia Park last year. Amazing place.

If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
You guy's like "big wood" check out the carmana (sp?) valley in BC ;)
Went out west there when i was ~10 and was both amazed and disgusted! I was amazed at the sheer size of the tree's and disgusted by the remnant's of the logging day's. I guess that's the price of "progress" :o

IIRC, wasn't there a tree that, they had cut a hole in, that you could drive thru it?
I thought I remembered seeing a picture to that effect?
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!
I'm pretty sure the tree you could drive through is long gone.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
Yep. At least the one in Yosemite.
"The tree with a highway running through it was located in Yosemite National Park. It was a Giant Sequoia and it fell in 1969."
There are 3 other giant sequoias that are drive-through, all on private land.

Awesome tree. I've been to the Redwoods and Sequoias on vacations. The wife and I astually drove our 78 Chevy van through one of the Redwoods, can't emember which one though. Also, didn't I read somewhere that the tallest tree ever recorded was actually a Douglas Fir and not a Redwood? Could be wrong though.
Don't let Curt around those with a chainsaw. He's likely to go Leatherface. :p
According to this site the tallest tree ever recorded was a Eucalyptus tree.

Truly awesome trees no doubt. I seen a show last week on National Geographic about these.
REGARDS SNOW
Yea bobman, them's the biggies. The one I was thinking of was only 385 feet tall. Just a baby compared to those Eucalyptus's.
