    Default Karma-SL2000,MW6503s'=AB800=Parts or Vintage

Laid the majority of out new hardwood floors 40 days ago. This involved moving crap all over the house and included some closets. Found my old AB800 In-Wall speaker which has the old SL2000 silver coil tweeter and 2 truncated MW6503s’ in it.

    See Link Below

    http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/specs/recent/ab800/

Most of the stuff in excellent shape and the tweeter is brand new. I never mounted the frame because the speakers where mount in our old Pioneer 55” Elite big screen (long ago deceased) I ordered an SL1500 shielded, to match the (4) Monitor 4's I had for F&Rears so the SL 2000 was never used. Gave those to the Bro In-Law for his house and the 6.5s won’t mount in his Sony SXRD LCD.

    http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73118

Besides that, I forgot to remove the XO from our TV before the curbside funeral.

So I have the OE box, frame, grill, New-unused, SL 2000 and (2) 6503s’ up for grabs. Just pay freight. 10 bucks more or less?

I would prefer this go to someone that REALLY needs the tweeter or all of it, now for replacement of a blown tweeter for there SDA’s , RTA, whatever it matches… Not to just stock up on it… Or you make an XO, wall-mount or build and enclosure to use as a vintage center channel.
Anyway, post if you have a need.

I am in on this as well... I could use it as an inwall for my center channel. I have SDA 2.3TL's and this would be an amazing find.

The 6503s are truncated to fit the frame. (They do not have round mounting flanges. They are squared off sorta) It would probably be a pain in the ass to mount them.

they have sl3000's but I do plan on going rdo-198's accross the board eventually and will Karma off the ones I will not need when the time comes. I cannot really hear much difference between the SL2000 and the 3000

IS this the right x-over spec (looks to be the only AB8xx one with a Sl2000, but it has MW6512's

In please. I would love to build a matched center out of those components for a vintage surround sound set with Monitor 10s and 7s.

I was just looking at that... yes I think it is. I can have one put together within a week, and already have the saw ready to cut the hole:) I had planned on getting my wires in the wall anyway and I have been too lazy to start. Great karma btw!

I think thats the series before. It's in the OE box and it clearly says AB800...

I bought the M4s in 1991 I believe. So maybe they shipped it in whatever box was available...

Lemme pull it out and see what the woofers are.

I bet the XO schematic/values are the same.

I would too Give the similarity to other Monitor series x-overs (12uF HP/ 34uF LP)

The only thing "different" is the P1 [says "AMP P/N 61400-01] and P2 [AMP P/N 42781-02]

Is there some 'micro' amp or something in there? j/k

    Wonder what "AMP' means...

    OK.

I opened the box and low and behold the OE Manual, and the original ticket are in there along with a shielded SL1500 .75" poly all the mounting hardware is on the wall frame also. It's all reassembled too.

    The ticket says

    Item Number:AWO801-SW15
    Description:AB800
    And Quanity=1

It's no doubt an SL2000 Silver coil. (Manu Date 9-6-1993) The woofers do not have the labels because Polk sent me 2 bucking magnets (And the SL1500) to video shield them for mounting in the Pioneer.

From what I remember, talking to the Polk engineer, he said the MW6501, 02, 03 and 12's are basically the same.

It says 6512's on the link also.

I am so sorry I forgot to get the XO out of the TV...

Are you the guy with the RTi8s and 6's?

I'm the guy with the Black RTi6s. How many systems do you have? :)

Beats me. Maybe mini step-up transformers? Bet the rest is the same maybe the woofer are that model# because of the squared-off mounting flange? The link says 6512 woofers...

I called Polk CS last week and he's going to dig up some old drawings for other speakers I have. Hint, hint COOL PEOPLE!

Or maybe Dorokusai to the rescue.

I was thinking the same...that they were MW6503 (like they told you) with the different # depicting the different flange.

Will be interesting to hear what PA-CS says the "AMP" stands for..

Good thing! You only had 32.51238549233Hrs to reply ;^)

I'll tell my wife thanks, she drew the names.

I'll do USPS Monday afternoonish. Gotta go to Fort Worth in the am.

Mail me a check when received at the return address.

The xo drawing in this post should be right. Less the micro amps.

I replied to your other thread. I was the recipient of this karma and I have several AB800 sets and love them. As a result, I do have a spare frame. I'll PM you my e-mail address.
