    The 1TB drive is an old model that isn't sold much anymore (newegg has it as "deactivated). According to the Fry's website it has an 8MB cache, but according to the model number (WD10EAVS), it has a 16MB cache. Not sure what's going on there. Either way, $60 for 1TB is a damn good deal as long as you don't need blazing fast speeds. I would assume this is a 5400rpm drive, I haven't been able to find out for sure.

    I believe it is 8 MB and 5400 rpm.

    Someone said it was originally a 4 platter drive, then 3 platter drive, and if Frys stock is very recent, it's possible they are even 2 platters drive (500 gb/platter).

    My guess is most likely 4 or 3 platters, though.

    Yeah, you're right. It's a small buffer, but buffers aren't a big deal for streaming movies, and the high RPM will make up for any problems with the small buffer.
