I am spoiled by the USB inputs on my living room receiver (RR2150) that allow me to directly connect the USB of my computer for audio. That way I can watch music on YouTube or sample the CD selections from Amazon and hear it on my speakers.
I need to do the same thing for my HK3490 bedroom system. It has a optical digital input and also coaxial digital input.
I am thinking this little device just might do the trick:
USB Laptop & PC Sound Card Audio Advantage Micro
It's only 30 bucks and a digital optical cable would add another 10 bucks.
I don't plan to do a lot of critical listening because I usually listen to CDs for that. However, I would think this would be better fidelity than merely using a radioshack headphone-to-RCA adapter to insert into the laptop's headphone jack.
Has anyone done this before and is the sound noticably better than the analog hookup option?
