Default cheap way to interface computer USB to HK3490

I am spoiled by the USB inputs on my living room receiver (RR2150) that allow me to directly connect the USB of my computer for audio. That way I can watch music on YouTube or sample the CD selections from Amazon and hear it on my speakers.

I need to do the same thing for my HK3490 bedroom system. It has a optical digital input and also coaxial digital input.

I am thinking this little device just might do the trick:

USB Laptop & PC Sound Card Audio Advantage Micro

It's only 30 bucks and a digital optical cable would add another 10 bucks.

I don't plan to do a lot of critical listening because I usually listen to CDs for that. However, I would think this would be better fidelity than merely using a radioshack headphone-to-RCA adapter to insert into the laptop's headphone jack.

Has anyone done this before and is the sound noticably better than the analog hookup option?

A little bit more money but I'm sure it's better quality is the Hagerman USB converter.

You could build one for a bit less money if so inclined as well.

Well, I was going to suggest the older version of the CL SoundBlaster external sound card, but, I just found it @ Amazon for $270.00!
Which is REALLY F'd up, seeing as I bought mine for $30.00 <4 years ago
