It depends on the Dacs, I preferred my Theta Pro Prime IIa dac over
the New Music Hall 25.2 dac.

True the quality of analog stage is key to good SQ.From what I can gather the DAC1 and VDAC both have similar analog stages utilizing decent IC opamps.
