Default Owl City - Ocean Eyes

Yes, yes i know. Most of you will say "Oh boy... that's my 16 year old daughter's favorite artist right now."

    And you're probably right.

    BUT:

If you like Death Cab for Cutie, but don't enjoy the depressed feeling that you get every time you listen to them, give this a shot.

The music is surprisingly complex when you really listen to it, and produced very well (well, yeah, it's mostly electronic), but there's a wide range of dynamics, and it's very easy to listen to.

Not much of a review i know, but i've only listened through it twice so far.

    Here's a sample:

    http://www.imeem.com/artists/owl_cit...an-eyes-album/

    Think...

Death Cab for Cutie/Postal service meets the synthpop genre. Amusing, at least.

Well it is one of my daughter's frequently played CD's. And it is pretty well done with a lot of very catchy songs. Along with Paramore it is one of the bands that I don't mind when my daughter plays it. Infinetely better than K$sha!

Utter crap. My exposure to pop music is fairly limited, but if you guys are saying this is better than other stuff out there then I'd hate to hear whatever it is you're listening to...

I made a CD a while back and titled it "Songs I Pretent Not to Like". Everything on that CD is IMMENSELY better than this, and everything on that CD is absolute crap, hence the title.

I would love to have my kids listen to this, than the rap that's out there.

I agree the tunes and electronica is cool in the beginning of most of their songs... and the kid sings or talks pretty clearly, wich is a welcomed change to the past 10 yrs. of pop song lyrics. The songs also seem uplifting like religious music tries to portray.

All plusses, except I just can't keep listening to his voice. I don't know, maybe I'm to old to care about what they sing about for the younger generation. It's like someone telling about life situations and this point in my life, I have 40 yrs. of them behind me. I don't like anti-establishment lyrics either...rap.

I'm more the "Keb Mo" kinda guy now..
But it would be great if all youngsters would hitch on to the "Owl City"s groove line...;)
Most people just listen to music and watch movies . I am glad to be a part of a select group that tries to take our auditory and visual senses to a higher level: we EXPERIENCE them.... GOT SDA?...GOT SUNFIRE? ...GOT Maggies?

only you Ben. Honestly my gf loves Owl City, I however find myself annoyed by their vastly overplayed song on the radio. Other stuff isn't too bad, however I would still rather listen to Death Cab then Owl if I had the choice. As some back ground music sometime with girls not too bad I guess.

Ok, I'm coming out too. I like Owl City. My daughter introduced me to this music, and in turn, I got her into DCFC. It is what it is.

I enjoy them. Its easy listening. The first song I heard, I swore it was a side project for the guy from DCFC.

Yeah, i'm really sick of the radio song. Amusingly, it's also the worst song on that cd, i think.

Yah! Coming out as an Owl City appreciater, that is (as opposed to a fan). I take it you were playing on the owl association. ;)

    ..........what he said!!

My kid is grown and on her own now so I had no idea who this is...did preiew about 15 seconds of the 1st 4 songs and that was enuff for me!
To each his own though, but this is one reason why I don't allow party guests to bring their cd's over unless they are prescreened!
