Anyone ever have their HOME floor speakers in their car/truck/SUV's?!

I remember the crazy **** we used to do when we were teens and 20-somethings back in the 70's and 80's (for me)! I had a huge, heavy pair of 'Technics' 3-way home speakers with 15" woofers that I put in my 1984 VW GTI. I had to lay them down in the rear hatch and fold down the rear seats. Even without an amp, my Pioneer car stereo (25w + 25w) and external EQ drove these things to insane sound pressure levels!

Between our heavy metal doo's and the loud-ass stereo, we thought we could impress the babes! God, I wish I took pictures (of the hair AND the speakers)!

I did it in 1989. I too had the long hair which was required for headbangers. I put a big ass pair of home speakers in my Ford Ranger regular cab. As you can imagine it took up over half the inside but I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

My friend had an ugly Chevy Vega with HUGE Realistic 15" 4 way Home Floor Standing Speakers in his back seat.

Sick.

I still remember the look on his girlfriends face when he made her ride in the backseat squished next to them.

I did it when i was 16. I hooked up a 100 watt cheap amp to a panasonic portable cd player and ran a jbl studio 3 way tower with a 12 and 2 two way book shelf speakers on this setup lol. It was funny but got very loud in a little 89 mazda hatchback haha.

Hilarious! Nice to know I wasn't the only wingnut doing this. Probably measurably reduced my MPG's in that VW. God, I wish I had taken photos!

Come to think of it, this is when I purchased my highly anticipated Polk 'Monitor 10' speakers (dream come true for me). So I had to do something with the Technics floorstanders I replaced!

I had my Monitor 7A's in the back seat of my car the other day. They weren't hooked up though...they were just being transported to a RAS meeting.;)

The idea did cross my mind though...

It was great, when i wanted more bass all i had to do was slide the little switch to turn on the built in bass booster lol.
Nothing like hacking up headphones to run a amp off a hand held portable cdplayer.
