You need to make things right with Luke before you continue seeking help here.

Why not try "pure audio" and increase your volume?

The volume level really depends on what Audyssey did to your setup. My speaker levels are lowered for 4-6dB, so I can "crank up" the volume higher than you (on the dial).

Regarding 'pure audio', all video signals are turned off, front panel is turned off, subwoofer is turned off, all DSP modes are turned off, and your mains are set as large. So basically, full-range stereo.
On the other hand, 'direct' mode looks the same, but the front panel stays on :).
There is a huge thread on TX-SR805 (and I am sure on 806 too) on AVS forums. I learned TONS of stuff from there on how to set up my 805 properly.

I didn't realize what happened until I read the other posts this afternoon.
Mr. Polkie918 has some serious explaining to do and needs to resolve this.
It is hard to believe that one member of this forum could do that to another and still remain here.

Dude, that's a huge AVR you have there, let 'er rip, and turn it all the way up: she can handle it! After a short while at those levels your speakers will be about as useful as Luke's CS350-LS.

I've found that the best way to use the Onkyo 806 is as follows...

Put in some music with a really loud bass track. I mean really really loud...

Turn the sub volume ALL THE WAY up. Turn the level trim for each channel ALL THE WAY up. Finally...turn the AVR's volume level ALL THE WAY up. Push play on the CD player.

If you use this one simple break in method, your 806 will be sure to run for years without a single problem.
