I currently power my 3 front channels with an Emotiva XPA-3 200W per channel amp. Is that enough power to adequately drive the RTi A9 speakers?

Yes, 200 watts will run the a9's just fine. Did you pull the trigger yet?
works for me! sure there's much better amps out there but the xpa-3 drives the 9's just fine

Yes that amp is plenty. 200wpc is about enough to ensure that most speakers operate to their full potential. Enjoy.

I am running my RTiA9's with the XPA-3 the combo works just fine IMO.
superjunior the day you can afford a high end Krell is the day I would look at something besides the RTiA9's to match it with. IMO the only thing you might gain with a higher end amp with the RTiA9's is maybe a little tighter bass response.
The RTi series with the Emo amp XPA-3/-5, Pioneer receiver SC-05/07, Audioquest speaker wires and IC's make for a fantastic setup IMO. And for $2000 - $3000 depending on what models you choose it's money well spent for the guy that justs wants a nice system and don't care about this being a hobby. a setup within this range will keep the typical person very happy for years to come.

You nailed it here Larry, one of the best response's to a thread topic i have seen since joining the Forum. I enjoy all these same components in my setup with no complaints. Affordability, performance, it all works. Looking towards different gear in the future as funds allow, (As we all are) but for now this does the job quite nicely. Again, well put.

OK. Thanks for the feedback. I am currently running RTiA7's. Just getting ready to do something here. Not sure what yet. I am thinking about swapping out the a7's with the a9's. Can get them from the Polk refurb store for about $900/pr.
also have had some thoughts about dumping the whole RTi set up and replacing it all with 4 LSi9's and an LSi center. I already have 2 LSi9's, so I would just have to get one more set and a center.
Here are my choices...
a. Emo XPA-3 200w driving RTiA9 fronts and CSiA6 center. Onk TX-SR876 140W driving FXiA6 surrounds and FXiA4 rear surrounds.
or.....
b. Emo XPA-3 300w (4ohm) driving LSi9 fronts and LSi center. Emo UPA-2 185w driving LSi9 surrounds.
either set up still has the SVS PB12-Plus sub, so I'm good on bass.
Which set up is better A or B?
I prefer the LSi series for music, but get a pair of LSi15's or LSi25's up front.
Use a second XPA-3 instead of the UPA-2 for the surrounds, or get a XPA2 for the fronts and use the XPA-3 for the center and side surrounds.

RTiA 9's being powered by an xpa5 here and satisfied! They work quite well for HT & 2ch BUT i shure would like to add a pair of xpa1's for some more serious 2ch listening though :)
Are the LSi's really that much better than RTiA's for music?

I'm running RTi12s, basically the old rev of the A9, and while they sounded good at 300 wpc, they sound much better at 850 wpc. Not volume, but the dynamics are vastly improved, and the speaker sounds much more open.

What are you using to get 850 watts per channel? Thats awesome. I have the a9's and also rti150's which were the old rev of the rti12's. You have sparked my curiousity. Could you pm me with what your getting all this power from. If you dont pm me I may never see your response. Thank in advance.
