    Talking suprise from the wife

Hello all,--thought that would get some lookers!:D
As some of my know from my other post, asking about the Onkyo sr-507, that I like many other have been trying to find the "right" HT receiver. From all who have added there opinions and experience I finally decided on the HK 354.
so this weekend the wife goes shopping and comes home with an Onkyo SR-507 for me. She said I know this is the one you wanted because she saw some print-outs and specs that I had. This was a suprise to me because she shows little interest in this stuff and I'm never sure if she listens when I talk about it. Well apparently she did-once at least.
So just to let you all know I will be started my rebuild project with this receiver and we will see where it goes from here. I just couldnt tell her that I had decided on a different unit.
Thanks for all past advise and looking forward to future advise too!

Yeah, super nice...too bad she doesn't know about pre-outs. I wouldn't sell it though (The AVR or the wife). Who knows...maybe one day you'll decide you need a bedroom setup and you can move it there. Congrats!

That's awesome. My wife did something similar once and as much as I loved it, I swear it meant more to her. Enjoy the Onkyo and DON"T EVER mention anything about the H/K.

The 507 will do you fine for now! And that was a wonderful gesture...my wife wouldn't know what an Onkyo was if it was staring her in the face. But that's because she has 'absolutely no interest' in electronics....except PHONES and CAMERAS!! Ha, ha....hmmm....I wonder why???

    Enjoy.

That was nice of her! Sounds like she's a keeper.

That 507 will be a very nice unit to get you started though. It's got a lot of high end features at a great price.

Thanks all, This will be an upgrade from what I have and will let me figure out what I really need or what down the road.
Yes, she is a keeper (most the time..Ha Ha). I think she was tired of hearing me talk about new receivers. Lesson here to be learned, somethimes they do listen. becarefully what you wish for... Tonite I start the hook up process.
Pycroft--- Right now i dont think i can afford to replace either one.

    Haha that is pretty awesome.

But what would have been REALLY awesome is if she showed up with one you hadn't even thought of yet that was better than the 354. Im pretty sure you'd have to marry yourself for something like that to happen though

Screw that, if it was me I'd be all "That's the wrong one, now get your bitch ass back to the store and get me the right one!". Then I'd be like "and then get your bitch ass back in the kitchen, and make me some pie!"

:D j/k, nice gesture and a nice receiver...

I mentioned something like that last nite and I got "the look". Ya know the one I'm talking about. Not the look that says " hey thats a great idea" but the one that says "look mister, you're lucky to be getting what you got and if you plan on "getting" anything else from me(if you know what I mean)....drop it......"
So I think i will enjoy this moment in life and wait 10 yrs for the next suprise.

PS. mystic, how do you like your RTi8s with the onk 706?. Rti8s will be my fronts for now.
