What is the best frequency for the sub? 60, 100, or right in the middle?

Are the rest of the speakers just satellites? Or full sized towers and bookshelves? The short answer is: Whatever sounds best to you.

But we may be able to give you a better starting point with more info... I usually start at 80hz for HT and go from there.

    Default Best Setting???

I have a Sony DAV-HDX273 and I switch out the front speakers with Polk Audio M50 and I kept the center the rear the same Satellite Speaker.... I just want enough bass to notice in the movie or music.

Try 80hz if that's an available setting and see if you like it. It's all going to come down to your ears.

    Agreed, 80hz usually works well.

    Default Best Setting???

Should I turn down the level of the sub setting in the Sony receiver to -6 or keep it at -4? And should I keep it at between 90 and 120 on the sub setting?

If you set the filter on the receiver, you're bypassing whatever the sub says, as long as the sub is set to the frequency set on the receiver or higher.

As for the sub level, we can't answer that. What sounds better to you?

Well, on the receiver I can change the volume level of the sub that's why I don't if I should leave it on -4 and turn on the sub frequency higher or not?

If the receiver has an LFE out then the crossover setting on the sub does not matter. If the receiver does not have a LFE then i would set the crossover to 80hz and go from there.

Does the receiver have an auto calibration microphone? if so use that, if not then play it by ear or get a SPL meter and manually calibrate it.

my sony doesn't have LFE connection. I just simply run the speaker wire to Speaker In that's all. I don't want a really boom boom sound...I want a quite booming sound. That is why I'm asking what is the best setting for a quite booming sound?

Try 80hz, and adjust the sub level as necessary.
