New Pioneer Sc-27 Elite

I just acquired a new SC-27 Elite, and this thing is blowing my mind.:) It's beautiful, and it is absolutely loaded. I have always been impressed with the Pioneer Elite line-up.

Awesome receiver. I think you need another stacked sub though, I don't think you have enough sub bass power LOL.

I went from a VSX-1015 to the 27, and have really been surprised at what the 27 can do. I'm running my surrounds off of the ICE amps and the front's with the XPA-5. Sounds sweet. I''ve nary touched the tip of the iceberg yet with the features this thing has to offer.

The MCACC set up was quite cool to observe, and I like the sound of my system afterwards. It did bump my subs up about 4-5 dB hot, as confirmed after running Avia II, but after adjusting the sub level down manually, the sound is superb. Much better than with the 1015. The X-curve feature of the SC-27 is nice.

Try running the fronts off the Pioneer as well I think you will be quite surprised. Even to the point of wondering if you even need the XPA-5.

Honestly, those RT7s sound great after 11 years, and they are really hanging in there, and blend quite well with the PB13s. I haven'theard anything yet to make me want to part with them. I have been surprised at how rugged the RT7s have been over the years. They've had many different receivers etc. thrown at them and they've always performed admirably. They are taking the juice from the XPA-5 very, very well.

Yep. An ERM 6.2. It sounds great, and blends well with the RTs, the tweets seem pretty close timbre wise, and the ERM has a +/- 2 dB attenuation switch to help tweak. The RTs and ERM have the same sensitiviy (89 dB/w/m).

I haven't heard the ERT8.3s, but they seem to be quite good sounding based on what I've read. The ERM/Ts are all sealed 4ohm speakers as well.

Congrats on the SC-27. Running the SC-07 here as some other guys are. Tons of features on that beast. Run MCACC and go from there. Any questions post up.

No, I have an acoustic panel that I made covering the fireplace. PQ seems about the same as before (still very good:)).

Yes, space is an issue, but it sounds super there.

Getting a pretty good FR with it there, altough I haven't measured since adding the SC-27. Should be pretty close to this though in 15 Hz tune.

No I haven't heard the BD (but I own the SD-DVD). I'll have to check it out and let you know.
