Default need help with hooking my Brother up

One of my best friends/brother, whom I haven`t seen in a long while , stopped by yesterday...

We got to talking and I decided that he needed some Polk Audio in his life !!

He has a 2000 (I think) Honda 2000 convertable that he just got for his personal get around type toy, so I decided to give him a present for his car..

A couple of Brand new Momo amps and some momo speaks...the 5.25 components...none of which have ever been out of thier box`s or hooked up to power.

    My question is this...

Will the speaks work on this car, and if I put a sub in the trunk, will he need a high output altenator to run all three amps ?

I think the doors are for larger speaks, but cannot find any info on installation.

I was going to help him have it all installed by a pro shop, but he lives a long ways away from me, and if the speaks won`t fit , I would like to get him the right ones.

Also, is it a good idea to just leave the stock speaks in and just have the amp hooked up to those ?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

The Honda S2000 uses 6.5" mids in the doors so the 5.25's would fit but they would need an adapter. They sell these at pretty much any car audio shop or you can make your own out of some MDF.

The thing Im not sure about would be the cutout in the door. My 2007 Accord had a cutout about the size of a thimble for their 6.5" speaker. I had to cut some sheet metal out and use a 2" spacer to get my beloved SR6500's to fit. I dont think that would be the case with a 2000 model Honda but ya never know.

As for an aftermarket alternator, you wont need one. Just make sure his battery is up to snuff.

    Thanks Mac !

Yeah, I just got off the phone with him , and he said the car is an `03.

I saw that the tweets on the door panels look to be larger than the Polk units, and Ifigured that if the doors were 6.5`s, the 5.25 would work with some mods

Maybe I will just try to find some new 6.5`s to make sure they are correc.

Will they be too deep for the door though ?

I know that Momo`s are usually dep speakers

I was going to give him a 300.2 or maybe the 400.4....not sure yet

I also mention putting a sub in the trunk, even though space is very limited, I was hoping that a professional installer could fit one 12" sub in there, and he could have one of my 500.1 amps for that

The 5.25 shouldnt be too deep. If it is, a simple spacer should do the trick.

The 5.25's will work just fine. JL Audio makes a stealth box for this car that sounds great. The problem is finding room for the amps. Make sure he doesn't need a lot of trunk space before you give him the amps. The Polk amps are kinda of large compared to other brands.
