    Default NFL-Week 13...

Well, I hope everyone else's team did better than mine, and I am not talking about losing 30-17 to Arizona. They completly outplayed the Vikings on both sides of the ball, but this loss is far more devastating than the score would indicate. I never want to see a player get hurt, but the way E.J. Henderson went down is downright scary. Today, I don't care about the score. Instead I simply hope that his injuries are not of the kind that end careers. Congrats to the Cardinals on a strong showing and my prayers out to E.J for a speedy and full recovery.

That's not NFL Week 13, that's Sunday Night Football.

From a fantasy standpoint, it was a major letdown for me. Sidney Rice and Dallas Clark had sub-par performances, as did Avant while DeSean sat. Andre Johnson was a yard shy of a 10-pt bonus in our league, too! The good news for me is my playoff spot is already secure. But my superstars showed their flesh today.

Speaking of which, fun to see the Saints work from a deficit for a change. And Pitts loses to Oakland again!

Back to the Vikes, nice to see E.J.'s bro there with him... I'm sure it's tough to sustain that serious an injury in an unfamiliar place.

Word I am hearing is E.J. suffered a broken femur and possible tendon ruptures... not good.

That injury to EJ looked terrible. I hope he recovers and is able to play again next year. My cowboys lost to the rival Giants and look like they may be beginning another December slide. Better luck next week i guess...

Fortunately or unfortunately, I think you may be right. We don't get international satellite where I am so I have to read the sports pages on the web to see how my teams have done....Eagles...OK! Pats...bit the big one again....the support staff on the defense still not good enough to revive the old team which really relied less on Brady and more on DEFENSE. Where was that defense against a Mediocre team....?

The question though is why we're not getting the hooplah the Pats got when they went 18-0 before dropping the Big One for the Colts and the Saints...it is very conceivable, at this point that ONE of those teams might just do what the Pats failed to? What do you guys think.....

Who is better than these two teams...they've both played some Big games and come away 12-0?

Miss seeing the games in HD or seeing them at ALL!!

My Colts looked very good against the Titans, especially in the first half. Vince Young played pretty well, I think he'll do a good job for them down the road if he can learn how to read defenses.

I was surprised to see Miami beat New England, odd to see NE lose a couple in a row.

When are people gonna concede that Pittsburgh is done, losing to Oakland pretty much drives the final nail in the coffin, no?

Washington has to fire that kicker, (literally) I could make a 23 yard field goal...

I won the office pool for the Giants v Cowboys game, I've won a total of $500 on the two matchups between those teams this year, those are the only games I've put money on.

It was a nail in the coffin when lost to KC. This is worse then 06 since we actually had a good record until completely collapsing. I dunno, steelers can't handle playing well after winning a super bowl. Guess they feel their job is already done. KC and Oakland.... WOW

Geaux Saints! What a lucky call (on the fumble) in OT though. Accurate, but lucky to go our way. I think it could have gone either way and it might have been a very different outcome. I didn't think the Saints looked "all there" and injuries are hurting them a little. I think a loss may be in the future, though I feel good about a championship! This is very exciting for us down here. It's been too long coming.

Well, for my thoughts, I will refer you to my post from a week or two ago where I predict the rest of the season. I was desperately hoping the Cowboys would prove me wrong but they blew it. They out played the Giants from what I saw but stupid mistakes and penalties did them in. That and what the hell is wrong with Folk? Guy was near perfect for years with one, maybe two missed kicks. He's less than 50% in the last 5 games. WTF? And I know Tuck is a jackass and personally feel his only redeeming quality is ability to play football well. But did Flozell Adams (admittedly another talented jackass) really have to take the cheap shot while walking off the field for half-time? Totally unnecessary and it was something that affected the rest of the game. But yeah, that game admittedly could have gone either way but and from the play alone, Cowboys were the better team. Factor in the mistakes and penalties and the Giants just has less critical ones. Good for the Giants and somehow, even though they are tied at 8-4 everybody is still putting Dallas above Philly. We'll see what happens next week. I think Philly is gonna get spanked.

Look at those Saints! That was a close one! 'Skins should have won that one but they didn't capitalize and that's Campbells fault. But the Saints pulled out a nail biter. And yeah, people say it shows weakness with such a close game. I say bull hockey! Two reasons. One, aside from the QB, Washington is a better team than the records shows. Also, the Saints are for real because the difference between a playoff team and a non-playoff team is that even the close games are a win. It's not weakness at all. IMO, it shows strength to be able to stick it out to the end against adversity and still pull the win. The Saints are playing like a team, a championship team. And a Champion team will always win out over a team of champions any day. Go Saints! It's long over due!

Last, but not least, finally the Vikings play a team with some ability and they absolutely imploded! I had a smile, ear to ear, the entire game! All the lame Vikings fans who were gloating about "Father Time" being the QB saw December ball played by a 40+ year old man and the reality hit them. I heard no BS, had no phonecalls, email or Facebook messages about the Viqueens as they all sat there and soaked in reality. It was euphoric! I can't wait to see what dem Bengals are gonna do next week!

One thing I wish is that Arizona would be more consistent. Everybody says that's the best they've played "ever" but I gotta disagree. They have met quite a few of the dangerous teams. The "even season" teams that can hand anyone a loss on any given Sunday but likely won't make the playoffs. They've had some cake games too like everyone else and they've had the "unwinable" ones like Indy and New York. They lost to Indy, beat New York but also lost to the Titans, Panthers and 49'ers. Those weren't horrendous losses either. The only blowout loss they had was to Indy. I think Arizona has had a tough schedule because these "even season" teams are hard to plan for. You never know when one is gonna wake up and decide to stomp a mudhole in someone. You just pray that it's not your week. I don't think AZ got lucky or just played exceptionally well. I think they were legit and if they met the Vikings again, they'ed wipe the floor with them again.

I can accept the fact that the Vikings did not play well at all, with exception to the first time and last time they had the ball. I am hopeful this was a one-time shot and they have it out of their system now. Next week will be telling however against the Bengals. If they can mount an effort similar to the Detroit game, I still like their chances. If not... then I will be concerned. I am still more concerned about E.J. than the loss in Arizona, and how that will affect the defense going forward.

Oh no, don't get me wrong. I never said the Vikings didn't play well. They played as well as they have all season.

What I'm saying is that the Viqueens and Father Time are grossly over-rated. They went up against a real defense with a nasty secondary and they couldn't do anything with it. Thing is, the Cardinals' D wasn't the most punishing they faced so far. That was the Steelers who limited the Viqueens to less than 20 points as well as shut down the rush of Adrian Peterson for 69 yards in 18 attempts. The Arizona game numbers are even worse. But Arizona has something Pittsburgh doesn't. A lightning fast secondary. The took Peterson out of the game at the line of scrimmage. They took Father Time out of the game down field. The Minnesota Messiah had 275 yards of offense. Total for the Viqueens was 315. They were ineffective.

The Bengals have a punishing defense as well with good run coverage. They will force you to throw it and they can take away your deep threats forcing the short throws. Minnesota doesn't convert those well and that was a big factor in the loss to Arizona. The Bengals are also pretty effective against the rush. You don't have to stop Peterson to make problems, you just have to limit him. The Viqueens rely on those 5-8 yard runs by Peterson and if you can keep him at 5 or less yards per carry, he's ineffective and the Viqueens can't convert. They give up downs and have to boot the ball away. And it has nothing to do with injuries. This is how they have played all season. They rely on Father Time's big arm and fast wide outs to get the deep threat and Adrian "The Annointed" Peterson to get the short and medium yardage. Take either one away and you can beat the Viqueens. Or, do like Arizona and take them both away and you'll stymie them for a nasty loss that will get over analyzed as The Viqueen Nation tries to wrap it's feeble collective mind around what just happened. The Viqueens lost a legitimate loss against a better team with better coaches. They will probably still make the playoffs but I will be very surprised if they get anywhere. Hey! Maybe it'll be a fun time for all and they end up, by some luck of the gods, meeting the Cowboys in the first round and Romo proves...something about the playoffs, don't what at this point, and the Cowboys knock the Viqueens out of contention. That would be a fun day!

Yeah and there is a difference between being a fan rooted in reality and being a Viqueen fanboi harping on and on about how "great" the Viqueens are. Sucks when reality kicks in at top gear, huh?

It's also funny how what most Viqueen fans pass off as "friendly ribbing" turns to "insulting" when they are on the receiving end of it.

No, I'm an *******. Get it straight.

As far as being a douche about it, check out the fanboi's previous posts even back to the preseason and you'll see some lovely commentary.

It took a while for them to hit the meat of the schedule but now that Minnesota is playing some better than average teams, the gushing from the fans has stopped. Even the professional analysts are back-peddling.

You know what's funny? If this was the Cowboys in this position and he was a Cowboys fan, everyone would be bagging on him. But because a mouthy Vikings fan is being called out for lame behavior and I'm the only one with big enough stones to be as big of a jerk to him as he was to the rest of us, I'm the "tool", "douche", whatever. But you'll tell me that the multiple efforts to get a rise out of other fans is friendly ribbing. Sucks to be on the receiving end of acid laced commentary about the team you're a fan of, huh?

Then again, I'm not really teaching a lesson. I don't even dislike the Viqueens. I dislike Favre but I still find the Viqueens intriguing. But there are only two sets of fans in all of the NFL that are more tiresome and distasteful than Viqueens fans. Raiders fans and Eagles fans. The only difference is that Eagles and Raiders fans know they are and they relish in the fact as a sense of pride. That, I can respect. Viikings fans are just as boorish and when told they are being so only say that others are jealous and mean-spirited.

You want to discuss football, discuss football. I'm all for it. I love analyzing the game! I love looking at what players are doing and how teams are interacting. But I study the game fairly extensively and I have my own opinions about it. I'm prepared to defend my opinions as well. That also leaves me prepared to shoot down outlandish claims like most of the stuff that comes out of Vikings fans mouths. Everybody takes the chance to burst my bubble but when I burst someone else's, I'm a jerk.

I honestly miss the days when I first got here and people argued with me with real arguments instead of crybaby, bleeding-heart whining about how callous and insensitive I can be.

    Jstas...

None of my posts about the Vikings were in any way insulting to you or anyone else... Let's see you post some proof to show otherwise. As to being a Vikings Fanboy, if being born and raised in Minnesota means that for some reason I am wrong to support them, then I guess fail to see why. Enlighten me as to why I should turn my back on my home team and support another. I recognize my team's weaknesses and can take the good natured joking that should rightfully be associated with those weaknesses. What I do not understand is why you need to be such a complete prick. I have not defended my teams poor play, and even in this thread stated as much. Again, I ask that you show your proof of my being a jerk about the support of my team. I do not need to look for proof of your being an F'tard as there is enough here in this thread for all to see.

You are the kind of football fan that would take pleasure in the injury of an opponent if it meant your prediction for future weeks came true as a result. You predicted a loosing season for the Vikings and you got that wrong too. All you have been trying to do all season is draw me into an argument. This is as close as you will get because I am done.

I was happy that the Jets won and the Pats lost so it still gives us some hope of making a wildcard. Sanchez should hopefully play on Sunday against Tampa Bay.

I dunno dude, partially torn ligaments in his knee...that's a big deal. If he injures that further, it could be career threatening. They might bench him just to save the investment.

I read that he only sprained the PCL. That boy really needs to learn how to slide. No more of this head first crap.

But yeah, that game admittedly could have gone either way but and from the play alone, Cowboys were the better team
I'm not wanting to get into it with you, so this isn't directed at you, you just happened to be the one to make that comment in this thread first.

I hate comments like this, especially when they're so pervasive. That's what everyone around here said after the first loss to the Giants, and now with this loss I'm hearing nothing but the same from coworkers and such.

That's such a cop-out BS comment to me. You got beat, the other team was better - just admit it and move on and try to fix it and be better next time.

And yes, I understand that sometimes the better team can lose a game, with enough luck and balls bouncing their way an inferior team can beat a slightly better team. But that did not happen yesterday, and it seems like every time the Cowgirls lose to the Giants it's the same comment "The Cowboys were a better team".

Really, they're a better team every single time they lose to the Giants?

Oh, and Flozell is a complete ass. I don't know about Tuck, but Flozell is a complete ass and he's already been fined at least a couple times for it this season - the guy needs to be suspended.

    Yes but you are a lovable ******* . . . there is a difference you know.:D

Anyone who loves Philly fare, even though they are a Cowboys fan is okay in my book.

Dude, look at the numbers. Penalties, two missed, EASY field goals and mistakes killed the Cowboys. They put up better numbers in every respect except for rushing. If the Cowboys hadn't blown stupid penalties in the first half when they were 3rd and goal, the score would have been in the Cowboys favor. They would have had the ball at the end of the game as well and that offense is one you don't give that opportunity to if it wasn't for the bonehead penalty of touching the ball before it traveled 10 yards on the on-sides.

The Giants played a good game but the numbers say Dallas should have had more points than they did. That wasn't because the Giants stopped them. It was because Dallas' kicker sucks right now and the fact that the Cowboys had 5 penalties for 30 yards. The Giants did not miss a single field goal and only racked up 10 yards on 2 penalties. In a game as close as a 1 touchdown finish between two teams who played equally well on either side of the ball, the penalties make the difference. The Giants won because the Cowboys screwed up. The Giants didn't play exceptionally well and the Cowboys certainly didn't play to the potential they have either.

But the Cowboys lost and it would have been a bigger deal for the Giants if they hadn't blown 5 of the last 6 games and fall behind the Eagles and the Cowboys in the division. 7 weeks ago, they were going to the Super Bowl. Now, unless they cream Philly, they don't have a chance at a playoff berth. If they beat Philly, they just have to wait for Dallas to get done imploding because the Giants have a cushy schedule against teams they can easily beat for the rest of the season.

But just because Dallas played a better game and lost anyway doesn't mean the Giants suck. The game was much closer than it seems and if Dallas had gotten the on-sides kick, the Giants season would have been done. Be glad your team is still in it because it doesn't take just a good team to be a champ but a little luck too. Look at the Saints pulling out the win when they got beat up by the Redskins. The 'skins played better but did not capitalize on a late drive, made a bonehead mistake and it burned them. The Saints should be 11-1 right now but because of a critical call going their way when the chips fell, they are still perfect, clinched the division and likely will be the team to beat in the NFC. One fumble call to not go their way and things could have been very different for the season. A win is a win. That's all that matters. Nobody will talk about how a fumble call won the Saints-Redskins game for the Saints. They'll talk about how the Saints had a perfect or near-perfect season.

But I don't recall saying that the Cowboys were a better team the first time around. I think I remember saying the Manning picked them apart. They got soundly beat because they played horribly.

And Flozell is an ass. That's been well established.

I read a story at lunchtime that said partial ligament tear. Eh, either way he's iffy. I'd hate to see him with such promise blow an entire career just for the sake of "toughing it out".
