    Default Quality Recordings

I'm new to this forum, and there seems to be a lot of HT guys on here. I'm more of a music man, and that's what my setup is used for. I'm no audiophile, but I do have an ear for good sound. I think it could be fun to have a list of some of the best recordings Polk members have listened to, for any genre. To all the music guys out there, what are some good quality recordings you have come across? Anything you play just to relax and enjoy your setup? I need some new CD's lol.

OK, here is where the noobness comes in..what is SDA? lol. And thanks for the list. I'm just looking for quality recordings; I've bought albums by bands I like, and the quality sometimes turns out terrible..apparently there are some really bad sound engineers out there.

SDAs were great speakers made by Polk. Stick around and you will hear of them.

For quality mastered CD's, check out Mobile Fidelity. I have yet to hear a poorly mastered Mofi CD.

I don't know what music you're into, but i'll throw out something a little different:

    Snow Patrol - Final Straw
Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism

Final Straw is the disc that i use whenever i change anything to see what the difference is.
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

Here is an Honor Roll list of Dynamic Recordings. List is maintained by Bob Katz. I'm sure you can find something on this list you might like. I have a few from the list and they all sound great.

I know its a relatively old thread, but if anyone likes Joe Satriani, the song "Oriental Melody" has a lot going on and is a great song to crank and enjoy, or test out your rig. On my system the microdynamics and details come out strong, the drum sounds very real, and the effects of his guitar are smooth. If you have never heard of Joe Satriani, well, if you are a fan of guitar you should really listen to him. Check it out!

That's great . . . I wonder why they remastered it as it was spectacularly mastered in the first place.

Where do you live camp? I have an MFSL UHQR Original Master Recording of "I Robot," and it spectacular, I didn't think they could do better than that.

If you live close by perhaps we could A/B the copies.
