Default How do you beat a Cold?

I have a Cold, Been drinking Tea with Honey, Orange Juice, Taking Vitamin C, Tylenol and trying to rest.

I need to get rid of the cold before Tuesday or they might re-schedule me again for my gastric bypass surgery.

I cannot have Aspirn, Advil or Vitamin E, NyQuil makes my heart race.

Am I going the correct route with the above items?

Are there other things I can try?

    Thanks,

    Sal

Since I am kind of a doctor I'd say you are doing well with what you are doing. Music is very important and relaxing while listening.

Zinc tablets, but it may be more preventative

There are also lozenges called Cold-ez...seemed to help my wife a couple of weeks ago.

Chicken soup, a hot shower and sex. Followed by chicken soup, a hot shower and sex. After that? Chicken soup, a hot shower and sex........get my drift?

Ok, seriously, you can lose the sex [I wouldn't want too]. Chicken soup and lots of it followed by warmth and humidity to keep the mucus in check. Sweat it out of your system if you can. Most of a cold is psychological so put it through your astronomically big head that you CAN beat it.

Did I mention constant showers? Oh, and change your sheets daily....if not more often.
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

Sorry none of this will prevent or get rid of a cold. It may make you more comfortable and it certainly is good to eat and drink healthy things. The cold has to run its course.

I love when people get sick then load up on vitamins/juice, etc. like it's going to magically vanquish the cold/flu. It certainly can't do any harm but its an old medical tale.

    Get well soon Sal

When I get a cold I simply let my body fight it off. No cold medicine no other stuff just eat good and let my natural defenses take care or it. Been working for me for 6 years now.

Sadly I am too fat and those all make my heart race. I take medicine every day to slow my heart down so that I don't have a heart attack, I don't want to raise my rate with other drugs.

Sal, sounds like you're good. What I find helps is just a lot of rest and plenty of good sleep lots and lots of liquids...LOTS! If you're not hitting the bathroom a lot drink more! While Brock is essentially correct if you believe the AMA and all its proclamations (which I do not myself)....I agree, all that cannot hurt and you never know? I've also tried ZICAM melts (only the mouth lozenges)...but they don't help much if you're already in the middle of the cold. They're somewhat helpful in the initial stages...

    Get well soon!

I load up on Cambells' chicken Noodle soup. Then the nighttime stuff you can't take.

Docs agree the soup works and they don't even know what makes it work on alot of people. It does have to be that brand of soup for some reason too.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies . I am glad to be a part of a select group that tries to take our auditory and visual senses to a higher level: we EXPERIENCE them.... GOT SDA?...GOT SUNFIRE? ...GOT Maggies?

Olive Leaf Extract does the trick for me every time. I didn't believe the person who told me about it until I was desperate and tried it for myself.

H9 is right. Your cold will have to run its course but the schedule is a wee bit tight IMO. I'm no doctor, but the best you can hope for is to feel better by Tuesday which may only mean that your immune system is winning but hasn't won yet. If you go under the knife, it gets knocked out and your cold comes roaring back or it opens the door for something else. Sorry for the gloomy feedback. Hope you feel better. :(
