Default Week 14 in the NFL

Cowboys blew it. I don't understand how you can out gain your opponent in yardage by a 2:1 ratio and still lose the game? Dallas's D continues to impress me. I just wish their O would have more drives like the 99 yard TD drive. They are so inconsistent it's disgusting. Gotta hand it to the Chargers though, that is one hell of a team! The Colts better watchout, I see history repeating itself.

The Eagles had one go their way. It was an ugly win IMO but a win is a win. I just wish they weren't so impotent. I think the Giants would have won that game if it wasn't for some iffy calls going against them. I didn't really get to watch all of it though. There were some really cool shows about dinosaurs on the Discovery channel last night. I really only watched the game 'cause my friend went and he had a miserable experience because of the weather and his team lost.

The Atlanta-New Orleans game was a nail biter down to the wire! I had a feeling that the Falcons were going to give N.O. a run but I didn't think it's be that close.

And lastly, the Bengals. What happened man? Again, another team that played well but didn't put any points on the board. Favre got his clocked clean quite a few times in that game too. That alone was worth watching the game for. Cincinnati has a punishing defense. If only the offense could keep up.

    How'd your team do?
You're just jealous 'cause the voices don't talk to you!

My team did just fine, thanks for asking:D:D;)

Giving up 30 points and loosing is hardly what I would call a punishing defense, but they did lay a couple shots on the Old Man that I am certain he still feels today. I am pleased by the way they came back from last week and having Antoine Winfield back really was a big help given the loss of E.J. last week. 11-2... yeah, I can live with that.

Know what annoyed me about this week in the NFL? My office pick-em pool. I picked TWELVE games correctly this week, which is usually enough for a win or at least to be in contention, and some a-hole actually had 14 freakin correct picks!! What the hell. I coulda used that 80 bucks.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

My Colts won over the Broncos, it was a great game. Brandon Marshall is a beast, but he can't win games on his own.

I was happy to see the Chargers take it to Cowboys, but at the same time I was thinking about how much I don't want the Colts to see the Chargers in the playoffs. Whatever happens, I hope someone else knocks off the Chargers...don't want them to beat us 3 years in a row.

I was glad to see the Giants hang in there last night, given how that game started that loss could have been a lot worse.

Jets win 3 in a row of course we played Tampa Bay. But a win is a win and we still have a chance of making the playoffs.

:D"Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?":D

THIS IS THE SONG FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON THROUGH THE SUPERBOWL!!!!

Ohhhhh, the weather outside is frightful,
but the Saints are soo delightful.
    The Redskins already know,
    Twelve-an-eaux, Twelve-an-eaux, Twelve-an-eaux!

The Super Bowl is getting nearer,
and the path is getting clearer.
    The nation al...ready sees,
    it's a BREES, Its a BREES, it's a BREES!!!!

The Saint's aren't showing signs of stopping,
and they'll have some Falcon for popping.
The noise in Alanta will be way down low,
    thirteen-an-eaux, thirteen-an-eaux, thirteen-an-eaux!!

When we kiss the Cowboys goodbye,
How we'll hate to leave them out in the cold.
But if you believe in da black and gold,
    It'll then be fourteen-an-eaux..!

    The Buc's are slowly dying,
and my cher we'll still be flyin',
But as long as the defense can hold,
    fifteen-an-eaux, fifteen-an-eaux, fifteen-an-eaux!

The Panther's can keep on tryin',
but my dear we're still denyin'.
Some say it can't be so, THE SAINTS WILL BE SIXTEEN-AN-EAUX, SIXTEEN-AN-EAUX, SIXTEEN-AN-EAUX!

Oh this football season's been frightenin',
But Saints have struck like lightenin'.
Saints and (Colts?) will finally know,
who's the best in the Superbowl.

Ah, another Favre hater...I will always fail to see how some people disrespect a man who has done so much and has such a passion for what he does. Any player playing at a high level after so long deserves respect in my book. I remember watching that man play football when I was 5...and I'm a year away from getting my B.S. now. And people need to stop with the "Favre likes drama" argument; that has been a lot more media than Favre at the core.

    You act like I care.

Besides, I haven't like Favre since...well...since his rookie year. When he "retired" and then signed with the Jets, that just cemented the deal.

No need to get hostile, I just don't see what people can have against him. People take the media created crap all too seriously. But whatever, every great man has his critics, and the records will always speak for themselves.

An NFL player does not work only 5 months a year. And there are many players who get paid well, but do not play with the enthusiasm Favre does. Especially after so long. I played high school football and that was hard work; I can't imagine 19 years in the NFL, with a family. It's not always about the money. If you thought that way, he could have retired 5 years ago and still have been financially set for life, so obviously its about more.

I'm not here to start an argument with people; I just think too many people buy into the media b.s. and disregard what the man has accomplished.

Regardless of how hard he works, he's an entertainer, and a media whore on top of it. There are a hundred hard-working long-time veterans in the NFL, they don't all get slurped on ESPN every year for unretiring for the 9th time.

Sports are entertainment. It's impressive that he's been able to keep it going as long as he has, but admirable is pushing it. He's not curing cancer, he's throwing a ball.

Beyond team rivalries, people don't like him because he's selfish. His new team only puts up with it because they're winning. He's having a great year and he is still extending records and breaking them. What's that going to mean to him when he physically can't play in the NFL anymore? He's managed to piss off an entire state for his waffling, and then outright lies.

If he had so much passion for the game and was such a team guy he wouldn't have had such a "hard time" deciding whether he wanted to play football, including training camps, or sit on a tractor for the rest of his life.

I'm not sure if you're a Packer fan or a Favre fan, but I'm life long Packer fan and live in WI. I will always have great memories of Packer games that included Favre, however I don't think much of him anymore.

These Viking fans that bashed Favre forever and are now kissing his ass are the ones that really make me puke. I wish them an early playoff exit and I hope it hurts like hell.

I'll defend Favre's greatness as an athlete as I always have, because it's just. He's one of the best to ever put on a uniform....as a man he's incredibly disappointing.

Favre does not ask to be on ESPN all the time, ESPN follows Favre because the viewers suck it up; people love ammo they can use against any high profile figure. Yes, he has retired and unretired, but then again I'm sure its hard to decide to give up the one thing you love, the one thing you have been doing since grade school. When you hold damn near every passing record of importance in NFL history, have a SB ring, 3 MVP's, a huge fanbase, have been making about 12 million a year for the past decade and own a guaranteed entry into the Hall of Fame, you really don't have much to prove or play for, except a pure passion for the game. It's that simple.

Plus, you can't discredit a man for what he excels in. He plays football, not cures cancer, so what? That dedication provides a good example for American youth in my opinion, to stick with what you love to do, to work hard to accomplish your goals. And that's a damn good message for a kid to have.

Seriously? What kind of Saints fan are you? We all naturally hate the Vikings and the Cowboys!

Favre is an a-hole. I know way too many people he has been a dick to around here. If it was an isolated report, I'd be skeptical. But it's consistantly "I met him one time at ____ and he is a dick".
Great QB no doubt, but not a very nice person under all that ego.

There is no doubt in my mind the Saints and Vikings are the two best NFC teams and both deserve to go to the NFC championship game. I'm not sur,e however, which one is the best overall team..I'm pulling for the Vikes, but if they fail, I'll be pulling for NO all the way; they deserve it.

And I'd never judge any person off of what others have to say. People could meet you and think you are a dick; doesn't mean you are. Interpretations of people are extremely subjective, no? Especially when dealing with a high profile individual.

What is it with people getting their panties in a bunch on the internet? I'm simply stating my opinion, and I damn well have a right to. Relax. Hate all you want, but as I said, the records will all speak for themselves and he will go down as one of the best to ever play the game. And there is a difference between love and respect...I don't even know why you would say that.

Wait wait wait..you're judging this off of peoples impressions of him as a COLLEGE STUDENT, 18 years ago? Favre was known to be an immature guy during college and his early career, which is why he drove people nuts and struggled in Atlanta. But people grow and change, and you can't judge an adult based off their adolescence. Can any of you say you were the same at 18 or 19 then you are at 40?

I give up, its like arguing with UF fans as to the fact that they were not the best team in the country..and I think we all know how that turned out...

You are the one that came into the thread posting your Favre crap. 5 posts to be exact. None of which are discussing week 14 of the NFL season. ALL of which are defending Favre which, as far as I can tell, wasn't under attack until you popped in.

Long live Brett Favre and he is welcome to retire and unretire as many times as he wants.
He has the right to do with his career as he wants!
It is still a free country for now!
If you don't like it turn the channel.
Hey, nutso, I never said he should be banned from doing it, I just said he's not a hero for it. And he's not. How old are you, 9? You should stop worshiping athletes by the time you hit puberty.

And as for his not "asking" to be on ESPN 24/7... if you honestly believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. The guy knows EXACTLY what he's doing to get the maximum amount of attention for his actions.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I went back and looked because again, I think you weren't watching the same game that I was. Carson Palmer had a grand total of 94 yards of offense and was 15 for 25. The Bengals offense did not put any points on the board. If Palmer had actually showed up to play, the score would probably have been much different.

However, Favre, who has been averaging around 270 yards a game I believe it was, only completed 17 of 30 attempts for 192 yards. That's a completion percentage around 56%. The Vikings as a whole gained 335 yards in total. The "Purple Jesus" Adrian Petersen a "whopping" 97 yards on 26 attempts. That's less than 3.75 yards a carry.

I think the routing would have been twice as bad if the Bengals hadn't been playing stout defense. Then again, the Bengals have suffered some big injuries on defense especially Peko being out of commission. If the star DT was in the game, I think Favre would have spent much more time on his back or at least running from an orange and black uniform.

You're so clever. Favre was mentioned by the OP first, not me actually. You want my recap of week 14? Favre played decently given the pass D he faced, the Vikes bounced back and shook the Bengals like rag dolls. There ya go.

No, Favre does not ask for it...players like Ochocinco ask for it, and no one in their right mind would say Favre craves media attention like players like Chad Ochocinco do.

This statement is passive-aggressive in that it is dismissive of anyone who dislikes Favre for any reason at all.

I've been watching Favre since he was a rookie. Green Bay is on Dallas' schedule every year. I never thought much of him and the reason his numbers are so high is because Father Time has been playing for close to two decades. If he can get those numbers in half the time, I would be impressed. If he could get those number despite what his offensive line is or isn't doing (kinda like Peyton Manning) then I would revere him with god-like status. But, like I said, there are people in this world who have been born and raised to a level of young adulthood who have never known an NFL without Favre. He's been on the TV almost as long as The Simpsons.

My opinions of Favre are based on my historical experience with watching him as a player and a public figure. Not on the media. I disliked Favre when he was a media darling and I dislike him still now that he is a media heel.

I didn't attack Favre nor was I critical of him. I said he got pummeled by the Bengals and I enjoyed that.
