Is there an easy way, other than a label on the back, to tell the 5s from
the 5a and the 5b.....is it all in the tweeter? Audiogon sure lists different resales values depending on model...with 5b going for the highest.
Thx....Mike

The 5b's with the peerless tweeters are the more desirable model because many of us like the peerless tweeters. If you have a newer model M5, you can get new RDO 194's which are fine tweeters from Polk. If the tweeters are black and there is a fuse on the back of the speaker, more than likely you have the 5B or A speakers.
Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers, Lsi 7's presence speakers,
Yamaha RX-V2500 System, Sunfire grand 5 channel, Carver A753 3 channel amp.
Polk HT system 2: ,Polk CS1000 center, Polk cs400rear center, Polk RT800 mains stacked with RT55's, Polk F/X 1000 rears running on a Yamaha RX-V2200
Polk Speaker collection: SDA SRS 1.2tl x 2, SRT system, SDA SRS 2 P/B, SDA 2A, SDA 2B tl, SDA 1C Studio, SDA CRS+, Monitor 12, 7B & 4, SRS 3.1tl, RTA 15tl
My 5A's have the Peerless tweeters. As I recall, the 5B uses the SL-2000 (fish eye) tweeter but there may have been exceptions. One way to tell the 5A from the 5B is that on the 5A the mid-woofer is not recessed into the cabinet and slightly overlaps the passive radiator. The mid-woofer on 5B is recessed.
The series II uses the SL-2500 tweeter which is a black dome.
