My 10A's appear to have the same tweeter, altho they are mounted upside down to these, the wires go top to middle, not bottom to middle.

The Polk's posted there on CL have the tweeters positioned properly. If yours don't look like that (assuming you have the same tweeter) then yours are simply upside down.
Another variation is where the leads coming from the tweeter go straight out to the sides.
Way too expensive for one, and I am not sure if ant 10's left with the SL1000 tweeter, but they appear to be them.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks
Ben
Looks like one SL1000 and one US made Peerless. I am guessing As as the SL1000 was the replacement if one blew a Peerless. I have compared the two tweeters extensivly and found the the 1000 to have wider dispersion and be more transparent and quicker however in the wrong system it can come off as bright. The US made peerless is very warm to my ears and full. keith
The SL2000 wasn't really a replacement, but was used in a hand full of SDA's and monitors. Because they will drop in the hole doesn't make them work properly. The XO for peerless tweets are different than other XO's.

The SL1000 isn't a replacement for the Peerless tweets. They used different values in the HF circuit of the XO.
That looks like one SL1000 and one Peerless tweeter. The Peerless is probably the original tweeter though. At $280...it's a bit overpriced IMO. Especially when you factor in the extra $50-60 to get the tweeters matching.

Values aside I can tell you of several people who had Peerless tweeters go out and were given SL1000s by actual Polk Dealers as the "upgrade". That would also help explain why one sees so many o 10s and 10As with SL1000s
The RTA 12B is a very good example Between 1981 and 1984 the crossovers and their values stayed the same (other then cap manufactures and type) yet Polk used 3 or maybe 4 different tweeters on them and NONE of them sounds the same. Go figure. keith
They both look like SL1000's to me, I think its the bad camera angle and lighting. The one on the right does look darker but it would look really dark if it were a peerless. Either way they are asking way to much!
Most of them only hear how loud it sounds, and the rest of us hear everything else -
I was in the same boat, except didnt want monitor 50s. Im still probably gonna get the t90es though. But sucks to know you missed a great deal. I personally think they are gonna only get more expensive but they dont do any 30 day price guarantees so purchase at your own risk.
