Default OWM3 Height as Rear Surrounds

    Hi All,
Before I drill any holes, what does everyone recommend for mounting the OWM3 as a rear surround? Ceiling height pointing toward the listener area, or ear height (when standing) flush mount. My setup has the rears about 3 feet behind the couch on the rear wall. Ceiling is about 7.5'. I've read a lot of recommendations for each which is throwing me off a bit. However, I originally purchased the OWM3s so I could mount high & point down to compensate somewhat for being so close behind. Just making sure I'm thinking straight...

    Hi,

I have OWM3s up in the corner of my 9' ceilings, and I think they sound terrific. I bought some Omnimount speaker mounts, and have the speakers pointed directly at the listening area.

I can't imagine the speakers could sound any better by mounting them lower. My Onkyo has the self-adjustment with the microphone, and so I assume it bumped the volume up just a little to compensate for the speakers being just a little further away.

    Hope this helps!

My OWM3's are the same as above on 8ft ceilings. They sound great!

Awesome pic Landshark! Are you in the showcase?

Ekender - You should treat them a normal surround loudspeakers and I vote for "towards the listening area". There's no reason to not utilize the many mounting options of that speaker. GlenT is spot on with his placement.

I usually run my surrounds hot as I want to "know" they are there...if that makes any sense. I love surround sound.

Yes I'm on the showcase. Seen yours there a while back, wish I had all those toys you have. Especially that SVS, I will have one someday and my velodynes will go to Goodwill...lol
