    Question TSI HT System

So I have began the research for a new HT System (family room) and have researched the Reference Series Klipsch and the TSI Series Polks. I had the opportunity for the first time to listen to the Polks at Best Buy this past weekend, and not only me, but my wife (who thinks all speakers sound the same) could tell the difference between the 2 brands. We both agreed that the Polks sounded cleaner and pure compared to the Klpisch.

The Polk speakers I hears were the TSI 400, the TSI 200, and the PSW 125. From my research and pricing, I believe that I would do the TSI500, the TSI 200, and the CS 20. I was not sold on the PSW 125 as I did not get the feeling it would provide the ample bass to fill my room (15x15 w/ 10-15' ceilings and a open floorplan to kitchen). Maybe Best Buy didn't have it hooked up correctly or the location it was hooked up (on a shelf) does not do this sub justice. Can anyone ease my thoughts about this sub or verify my suspicions? I am thinking about getting a PSW505 instead of the PSW125? I know it is an older modal, but I think this might have the punch I want (well from reading reviews).

Also, has anybody purchased from NewEgg and had problems? I see they are a certified dealer on this website, but didn't know if anyone has had problems. Are their speakers refurbished? How are they so much cheaper than everyone else?

Also, the receiver i was looking at purchasing to power this system is the Denon AVR 790. Is this a good receiver with these speakers? I know it has ample power with 125x7, but any reviews on Denon receivers, and particularily this receiver?

I bought a pair of TSi300's from Newegg and the experience was good (other than the lack of a return policy for speakers). The TSi series is very nice IMO. Very clean and smooth. Some may prefer the Klipsch reference speakers, but I personally can't stand them. Those horn loaded tweeters are painful to listen to.

As for the sub.....it depends on what your expectations are, but if you're looking for room filling bass in what seems to be a very open room, neither the PSW125 nor the PSW505 will do the job. For around the price of either, you avail yourself to entry level offerings from HSU (STF-2) and SVS (PB-10NSD). Both of these subs will vastly outperform the PSW subs, for around the same price.

HSU and SVS are internet direct brand subwoofers that aren’t well known by the general population, but are revered amongst the audiophile community (for lack of a better word). You won’t find them at your local best buy though…they’re bought and sold directly from the manufacturer (thus cutting out the middle-man and providing more performance / dollar ).

Google either, and you’ll hear nothing but good things about them.
