    Default Worth the upgrade?

    Hey Polkies,

First off, Happy Holidays to all! Being Christmas, I ended up with a bit of extra cash on me today. I remember another thread someone posted with the Rti4's for $150 shipped; Amazon is still selling the pair at this price. With a little cash in my pocket, I debated upgrading to these from my M30's in my 2 channel setup (see sig). Unfortunately, there is no where to audition these anywhere near where I live. So...before I decided to just go on a wing and try it, I wanted to see what you all thought. For a 2 channel system, primarily used for music, are the Rti4's a significant enough upgrade over the Monitor 30's to warrant buying a pair? Thanks, and enjoy the holidays!

Don't forget that the RTi line is a step above the Monitors. Go for it. Especially at that price.

I just want to be sure it's enough of a difference to be worth it; looks like it uses a very similar driver and tweeter ,and the enclosure looks similar also. The only visual difference is the Rti's front-ported, with a smaller port. I'm not saying they don't sound different, but I was hoping an owner of these could comment on the improvement they'd be over the M30's. Money is tight for most people nowadays, and I don't want to throw money away.

    Go for it.

Would definitely consider them a worthwhile upgrade over the Monitor 30's.
I shouldn't need to mention that they're at a great price also.

However, I would like to start a two channel system in a more "purist" way just for music and using separates. I'm not sure where to start, so I'm looking for some guidance. I don't have a defined budget now but I have some ideas of what I want. To begin with, I want to keep the cost reasonably low (who doesn't), I'm not planning to get the super high end system.

The Rti4's are a significant upgrade over the Monitor 30's. You'll get way more detail and bass. I found Rti line to sound bright for music. I see you've got NAD gear, which tends to be on the warm side, so it will probably be a great match. I would snap them up.
