RTi A5 or RTI8

I have a fully mismatched, pieced together 5 speaker setup (no sub). Looking to spend about 500 on fronts (currently RCA floor speakers), and up to 300 on a center or sub (which ever I decide to get first)

I can get the RTi A5's for 450 shipped and the RTi8s for 430 shipped..... Are the A5's better?

Get the rtia5s. They're certainly $20 better. Looks alone and arguably better in sound.

BAH! FRYS won't ship the A5s but they will ship the RTi8s.... closests Fry's is about 5-6 hrs away! Boooooo

I would drive that for them. I has RTi12's and had a problem with one and Polk sent A9's....I would say there is a huge improvement with the A series over the former RTi's.

I thought they were the same speaker, only cosmetic differences?

I don't think I'll be able to make the drive anytime soon.... should I just get the RTI8s or wait for a deal like that to come up again (maybe Frys will ship it later) I have 500 bucks for new fronts... any other suggestions or deals out there...

Get the A5's from Polk Direct on Ebay. Mine were $480 shipped and you can't even tell they're refurb and they have a warranty. No brainer that the A5's are better then the 8's. Looks are infinitely better, IMO

I have the A5's and love them. I would go for the RTiA series over the older RTi's. Keep an eye on polk direct for them. they are basically the same speaker but there are a few differences namely the cabinet. I think the A series looks a whole lot better.
