    Question RTi4

Have 3 RTi4 and they sound really high tinny/ with the woofers not working for unknown resons (they were in heated storage). The connector plates on the back are there and on the inside everything looks good, no loose or broken wires that I can see, any help would be great

push evenly (and gently) on the woofer with four fingers spread out... if the woofer doesn't move in and out, you have a shifted/frozen magnet. I know with older polk woofers, you're SOL if this happens (requires the buying of new woofers).

Call up polk CS on monday and see what they say.

This may sound like and obvious thing...but when something isn't working right...we tend to overlook the obvious....at least I do!! Those speaker are bi-wireable....menng there are 4 binding posts on the back. They need to have the brass anchors connecting the 2 reds and 2 blacks if you are not bi-amping them. Check to make sure if the anchor is there. If it isn't and you are plugged into the top set...only the tweeter will be working...which could be why it sounds tinny with no bass. Check it out.

If that's no the case than check all receiver settings....troubleshoot I guess you can say. If everything else fails....something is obviously wrong internally.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.

He said the "connector plates" are there on the back, I thought that meant the upper-lower connectors were there. How old are they? Warranty? Polk CS should be able to help you out.

Yeah....I saw that. I've just never referred to them as 'connector plates' and thought he was referring to something else. Still worth checking out if the anchors are indeed there and connected right. I have had a pair that looked like they were on....the speaker sounded like crap....I took the anchor off only to find the the fork was broken and was never really connected. Replaced them with speaker wire anchors that I made and voila.....
