Default Anybody see the Norway Spiral?

Happened in Dec, I think a day before or the same day of Pres. Obama's arrival for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Russians said it was a failed missile test. I looked at some pics of failed rockets but none looks like the Norway one. It's too perfect.
I have no idea what it is. Anybody hear about this?

There are plenty of pics and videos on the net, just type 'norway spiral'.

yeah, I saw it the day after it happened, My son told me about it. Apparently they were talking about it in his science class. I think it looked pretty cool, there was speculation about it perhaps being caused by that Hadron Collider test that morning, but I guess the accepted cause is now the failed missile theory...
I'm with you though, it didn't really resemble the other failed missiles, and it kinda looked like it collapsed in on itself at the end (like a small black hole is theorized to do when it runs out of "steam"), but whatever, I don't wish to be one of those conspiracy theory type people so I'll just accept the common "fact".

I saw it on the news and it looked like a Fibonacci spiral to me. Also called the golden spiral, it is found thoughout nature. The photo on the news did not look like a man made mistake to me.

There are a lot of photos of Fibonacci spirals and golden spirals. Compare these to the newsfootage and see if you agree.

btw, I was going to post that Leonardo Fibonacci is my hero but the here qotd imploded.

Just because it doesn't look like a failed rocket to you doesn't mean it isn't. It just means you haven't seen a failure like that.

I have. It almost hit the ship I was on too. We launched an SM-3 with a solid fuel booster stage. It was meant for an exo-atmospheric test to see if the launch vehicle could carry the payload designed for it. When the missile left the ship, everything seemed cool and then a seal on the side of the booster stage failed. It cause the missile to pitch wildly off course and it did several loops in the air before the booster broke loose and the missile headed back in our general direction.

When the booster broke loose, it was still firing for the launch burn and it spiraled up in the air, just like the Norway spiral did until it burned out and it splashed down about 6 miles away. The missile landed not more than 1,000 yards off the port side of the ship.

The Norway spiral looked exactly like a multi-stage launch vehicle failure.

I didn't state anywhere that it wasn't a failed rocket. I said it doesn't look like one because all the pics I can find of other failed rockets look very different and was checking if anyone can confirm that. But of course it could have been a rocket.
I didn't rule out the posibility that it could be a rocket.

I just found it interesting because of the back hole effect Talweh mentioned. I noticed it in the video.

    Des Moines,
I watched a few programs on that spiral you mentioned and some sacred geometry stuff. Blew my mind lol.
