Here's an interesting link I found on tube recipes. If anyone else would like to add some of their own recipes, I'm interested in reading what you got cooking.

I Add to my ANthem AMP 1 4 big old Ei 6ca7s that only be had from a guy in a dark back alley. HE may look a little scary but he is trustworthy and has the best stuff.
Add 1 Sylvania black plate triple mica 5751 and mix well with 2 Brimar 12AX7s or you can substute will mullards.
Heat up for 60 minutes and you are ready for an evening of sonic bliss.
Oh yeah don't forget to bias often during the cooking phase.
For a dinner parties and to serve up more portions upgrade the caps to Mundorf Silver/Gold. You may experiment with V-Cap, Dynamicap or what ever suits your taste.

13 days into the new year and Keiko hits it out of the ballpark with the best thread of this year. Way to go bro'! :D
I'll fill you all in later with what I got cookin'...

Dunno bout thread of the year, but I am hoping to get some ideas and hearing what works for you guys. :o
The Shanlings light up some 1950s Sylviania 6SN7GTb and 6SL7gt along with the SED EL34s. If the room is still felels to cool then I add a pair of vintage Tele 12at7s in the Lector CDP 0.6t to the mix. To make the sound taste just right (for digital bliss or vinyl euphoria) the VAC Standard LE adds the VAC flavored and labeled 12ax7s and 12au7s. The smoothness of the texture and the detailed work appreciated in the finished product always makes cooking with glass more "rewarding".

Got a nice Mazda 5Y3 today from the good doctor that replaced the Sylvania that burned out not so long ago. I like the warm tone these rectifiers add. So, I'm currently cooking with the Mazda and the Amperex E180CC with the Dared, SL2000A. Mullard M8100 in the Yaqin CD2. Mighty tasty tube vittles.

Here's what I got running so far in the Anthem1 amp. I am currently running a Ei Gold pin 12AX7 for the first stage amplification, Brima 12AU7's for the driver tubes and Winged "C" EL34's for the power tubes. Bias is only set at .42 [the bias can be set to .4 to .5]. I feel no need right now to push it beyond that. Excellent combo with the Dodd MLP, Jolida JD100, Anthem1 and Tyler Acoustic's Linbrook Signature series speakers.

Here’s one that really surprised me. Like most tube people I’ve been through the 12AX7 over the 5751’s thing. And in most applications I find the 5751 the better choice. In the line stage of my cj CAV50 I’ve experimented with a bunch of the better-known 12AX7’s and some of the so-called best 5751’s. You know the usual suspects, 1950’s GE triple mica black plate, 1950’s RCA command, the list goes on. Then one day I was at my local radio shop and noticed a sleeve of NOS 1960’s RCA 12AY7’s. He only wanted $5 each for the tubes so I picked a couple up. I knew the 12AY7 could be used as a sub for the 12AX7 but it would only have a gain of 40 instead of 100 like the 12AX7. Well guess what, a year later and the 12AY7’s are still in there. Give a couple a try, you never know!

Got this quad delivered today and for what I paid for them I'm very pleased. Has similar characteristics of the Sylvania Gold Brand I recently scored also. Strong mids and wide open soundstage. I had read on audioasylum that the Sylvania brand 12AT7 is one tube they did consistently well. I have to agree.
WOW!
I hate giving up some of my secret ingredients as I'm afraid the price might go up on special spices.
I'll definitely sit back and watch for new flavors for sure! YUMMY!!
Now I've got the munchies. Thanks a lot.
OK, here ya go. The spice rack is pretty well stocked for now anyway.
I'm finding the old yellow label Raytheon are the best sounding 7199s for my old Dynaco ST 70s. I can't believe how much more flavor, music and detail comes out of them than the old RCA and GE of the era. The new spices aren't even close yet on this flavor. They leave the palate wanting more.
6SL7 Sylvania "chrome domes" satisfy my cravings and add all the flavor I could ask for my baldwin modded monoblock amps, and I'm still not telling for my 6SN7s as I have a hard enough time finding them without paying $100 per spoonfull.
I hope the danged dog don't tell either.
OK, so currently I'm running a pair of RCA, 12AT7 3 mica black plates (doctorcilantro) and an RCA, 5V4G Rectifier (heiney9).
Ooo la la! Spacious!!! :D
In my BAT VK-3i preamp I have been switching between 4 Amperex bugle boy 1958 "D-getter" 6dj8 tubes and 4 Siemens CCa/E88CC "gray shield" 1963 tubes. Also there are 2 Pope 6V6 tubes. I am leaning towards the Siemens/Pope combo as the tone is better with the Siemens. Although, the soundstage width is a little better with the Amperex.
In my AMC tube preamp I was running 2 Valvo 1958 45 degree halo getter 12AX7 tubes and 2 Brimar 13D5 tubes. The tone is extremely good with these. Decent soundstage, and they are smooth sounding. I switched to 2 Amperex bugle boy 12AX7 tubes and 2 RCA "clear top" 12AU7 tubes. The soundstage got literally about 3 feet wider with these tubes, but the tone was not as good as the other Valvo and Brimar tubes though.

Scored on a couple of bargain auctions on ebay this week. I'm looking forward to trying the triple mica, Sylvanias. Should be here by week's end.

Revisiting some 1960's Sylvania, Gold Brand 6201s and Sylvania ST 5V4G rectifier. I think the GB 6201s are my favorites to date. Just the right amount of bass, mids and highs. Lush, warm and open soundstage. Yummy!
