Ok, I need a subwoofer guru to help me finalize my decision. I posted on here a while back and had tons of advice and recently posted on another forum with similar questions. My room is very large, 19x40 with vaulted ceilings. My budget was $700, and came up with these to subs, VTF-3 MK3 and A5 – 350. Both will cost me $800 to get to my door. I know I went past budget a bit, but I can go another few weeks to save if necessary. I don’t want to save for another 6 months to get an Ultra from SVS so no advice going that route .

With a room that size it will be hard to meet your budget. It's like saying I'm going to race nascar, but I don't want to wait until I can buy a fast car, so I'm gonna get this dodge neon here for $800:( Well, not really, but you get the picture. While both subs are good subs, and would easily fill the average space and then some, your room is HUGE comparatively speaking. I didn't read your previous post, but I'm sure I'm just telling you something you already know:o Going by the specs only, I would think the A 350 would have the best chance at filling that space. Have you considered the DIY route?

Can't do DIY, typical old New Orleans home, no garage, shed, plus I don't have the tools. The guys at HSU thought their sub would work in my room, I spent almost a half an hour on the phone with them.

Is it possible to save some coin and then purchase. I would think an SVS PB13U would do it, then again not sure. Also check out Epik subwoofers.

Sherard is right, but I do understand wanting to get some going now. On the plus side, if you buy one of the two subs you listed, you can by another later and run dual subs:)

Take your time and do it right with the sub, don't skimp. Esp. in that large of a room. Try to see if you can find an SVS used on CL, or Ebay or the Gon. You can always add another later as suggested. Good luck.

They are both good subs, but that is a BIG room. When you talked to the folks at HSU did they get your room size with ceiling heights and opening to other rooms? I have heard that they give honest appraisals of their subs performance, so I guess I would believe them, but maybe you have heard this already, that is a BIG room, and I have my doubts. Also they do have a 30 day return policy. I guess it depends on what your expectations are. Only one way to tell if one of those will make you happy.

I did give the guy at HSU my room specs and we talked about it for a while. I won't be in this place for long, and doubt I will ever have a room this big for my system again. I guess I should just suck it up and wait some MORE to get something. SVS reccommended the PB12-Plus when I spoke to them. Maybe I'll just wait for a nice B stock or the new model to replace it and get a bit lower price. It is killing me to wait!!!!!

Don't count out Sunfire. Their true subs are nasty. They're small in stature but can move a lot of air. Also, you can find one for around $500 on CL.
