The C-1 or C-19 [tubed pre] will offer the best sound.

Thanks treitz. Can you tell me why those two are better than the c-400? They all seem to get good revues.

    Thanks, Maurice

    Do you mean the C-4000?

I was told by a reputable source that the C-16 was the best solid state amp that Carver made. I haven't heard any personally.

The C-16 and the C-1 are [I would say] tied in that category.

POS. I heard one that was even modded that Bob Carver auditioned at Carverfest and the sound was so veiled, I just left the room. Highly NOT recommended. ;)

What about the c-11? I read something about it being the exact same as the c-1. Anyone have any info on that/

Allow me to correct myself. The Lightstar pre is hands down Carver's best work for an SS pre. The C-1 and the C-16 IMO would be tied for second place.

I'm sorry mjg, but I can not comment on the C-11 as I have never heard one yet. If you are in the market, I do have a C-16 for sale.

The C-11 is same as C-1 except black and a slightly better phono section.

Also, for the record....the Silver1 pre is the best of the best of the tubed category, with the C-19 following in its footsteps.
