Well.... the Cirque is coming to town here.

My questions:

1) How many of you have gone?
2) About what did you pay, if you don't mind me asking?
3) Was it worth it?



My girlfriend really wants to go, but isn't terribly excited about the price. (about $220 for both of us with decent seats). I figure, it's around Valentine's Day, and if she really wants to go, and if it's REALLY that good, i could be persuaded to do that as the big gift instead of something material.

What do you all think?

Wife and I saw the Vegas show a few years ago, it was part of the package we bought, very entertaining, not sure about $200 worth.

I really don't think I would be into paying that kind of money unless I was making a big nite of it. Dinner at a nice restraunt, show, etc. Like I said, if you want to show the lady a classy time, then by all means go for it. We enjoyed the show, but it was not the show I was after. Get my meaning?

while it will probably never tour.. zumanity is a great Cirque show if you're ever in Vegas.. my wife and I went to see it and we got the front row "couch" seats.. lots of audience interaction, I even ended up on stage at one point. Lot of fun and and plenty of good stuff for the men and women. extremely funny but sexual show so be aware of that and one of the acts ends with a man on man kiss so be aware if you are offended by that. Cirque in general though is always a fun show its amazing what these people can do and yes will likely get you some at the end of the night.

Yeah, those would be front row pretty close to center. The prices don't really change until you get in the nosebleed section, and not enough to bother taking the hit on seat placement.

It's "Alegria." The preview looked pretty cool, and is supposed to have elements of the Baroque Era, which is my favorite classical music genre, so i'm a little psyched about that.

We went when they came to town. Well worth the 200$ we spent we were about 8 rowns from the stage. I'd pay that again to see another of their shows.

That's kindof my thought... this isn't a normal circus, after all. :D After watching previews of all their shows, these may be some of the most talented people on the face of the planet.

They have different shows. We saw the water show in Las Vegas and it is worth every penny we spent. Very stunning show and the sound was very nice.

yup that's what happened to me.. the wife was laughing the whole entire time when I had to place to plastic bags filled with water in front of her acting as "home made" implants .

They put on great shows. You will only be able to determine the worth after seeing one live.

I've been to two of the shows in the past, but they were not the same as this verison it was by the same company but can't remember the name. One was in Orlando, FL and that was a very good show, for the price and everything I think my ticket ran around 100 bucks or more. I enjoy theater though so it was good. The other one can't remember the name either but it was also very good and ran around the same.
Really for tickets for decent seats your going to pay a bit in any type of theater event but depending on how much you feel its worth is dependent on what you spend.
Main floor=more money, balconies ect will be cheaper but sometimes visual quailty will lack as you will be farther away.
If she likes it then go for it, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I went to see "Ka" @ Las Vegas MGM with the ex-fiancee and to it was well worth the $90+ ticket price. For this show, you don't want to be to up close because the stage itself if actually the attraction. The stage can pivot any which way and therefore allows the performers to do different things that can't be done on a stationary/flat stage. Very impressive.

They are fantastic shows....have been to 10 shows and all were well worth seeing again..enjoy

Ive been to 6 or 7 of their shows. Great stuff, my wife absolutely loves them.

That being said, do not sit in the first few rows, get 6-8 rows back. There is way too much going on, if you sit close you will miss stuff going on around you because you'll be fixed on the everything that is directly in front of you. Kind of a tunnel vision if you would.

As far as the cost, well there really isnt anything like it, and I agree on making it a night out, dinner etc. Maybe even get a nice hotel room to finish it off with a bang. :D

Also, their "clowns" rock, sometimes my favorite part of the show.

You ****'n lucky bastard. I've seen all the shows that have come to town here and Alegria is still my all time favorite. The music is amazing, best of all their shows I've seen as well.

If you're spending $220, I'd upgrade, and do the "Tapis Rouge", very worth it IMO.

thanks for making this thread! wife told me she wanted to see a show recently. after reading this thread, I searched and found Alegria was going to be in town just next month. Just got what I hope are good seats. Venue/stage seating looks really weird:



I got F2, row A, seats 1 & 2, which is the exact bottom of the F2 diamond. Can't tell if they are really good, or possibly even slightly bad seats

1) 2 live shows and I own every Cirque show available on DVD.
2) 100.00 and 150.00 ea.
3) Worth every penny.

Check the Cirque web site for the details but you get the best seats in the house for one. A private tent is set up for these ticket holders where drinks and food is served before and after the show plus a meet-n-greet with some of the performers.

HA! I just checked on Cirque's website and it shows Alegria headed this way, to Cypress. No dates yet but you can beat I will be there with the best seats available. I'm stoked!!!

Well, this was last night. :D

Amazing. :D :D

Here's some impressions and thoughts:

1) Didn't realize that they performed the music live, too, that was cool. (Where do you find clowns that can play soprano saxophone so well?)
2) The main "storyteller/singer" had an amazing voice, and was 100% dead accurate in tune. That was refreshing.
3) The drummer was damn good.
4) The sound was very good, and i want their subwoofer setup. If they can pressurize Conseco Fieldhouse (where the Pacers play) then. uhmmm... holy crap.
5) The asian contortionists were gross. You should NOT be able to stick your face in your own ass.
6) I want a rubber band swing thing
7) I want to go see another show of theirs. :D Tomorrow. Please?


Everyone should go see this once in their life. Worth the money and more.
