Will do. Been eyeballin' this Yaqin SD-CD3 for a couple days now. Has a nicer cool factor vs the CD2. Contemplating if it would be worth it to upgrade or not. The 6SN7 tubes are a little more pricier. Hate it when the upgrade bug starts biting.

Anybody done a head to head with the CD2 vs CD3?

I got the Siemens this morning and swapped 'em out from the Mullard M8100s. The 6AK5s are just a little bit dryer than the Mullards and maybe a tad bit brighter, but not by much. These are still brand new, so need a little more time to burn them in, but I could live with these just as easily as the M8100s thus far. The JAN GEs I ordered should be in within the next day or two. I'll followup again when they arrive.

OK, so got about 40-50 hours on the Siemens 6AK5Ws this week and I agree with your assessment, Dawgfish. They started out a little bright, but once they settled down, they're more linear. Compared to the M8100, the Mullards are nice for their mid-range. The Siemens have good detail and are well rounded, at least to my ears. Pretty decent tubes for 7 bucks a pop, IMO. I rolled the GE 5654Ws in this morning and these will need some time to burn in. Right now I find them a little rough. Not bright, just lacking that tube warmth and kind of a collapsed, almost flat sound. I'm thinking they'll improve after they've cooked for awhile. I'm going to try the Raytheon 6AK5s again after about a week or so just for comparison, but likely I'll go back to the M8100s. Overall, I think these were worth the small investment and I have a couple more flavors for the Yaq. For 22.00 + shipping, I can't complain.

Cool to hear. For the price of these things they were defintiely worth trying out. I like trying different tubes just so I'll know how they sound in my setup and not wonder if there's anything out there that may sound better. I'll definitely be curious what you think of the Raytheons. I have not heard a Raytheon tube yet that i did not like.

Dawg, I bought the Raytheon 6AK5s when I first got my Yaqin to replace the crap in the glass stock tubes. As I recall, they were a nice improvement over the the Chinese 6J1s. I think they were like 10.00 for a matched pair. I just want to revisit them. BTW, the GEs are settling down some and starting to open up a bit. I've read these are close to the M8100s, so I'm eager to cook 'em another week or two.

Here's a tube rolling guide for the Little Dot I ran across that might be helpful. There's a list for some EF95s (6J1) that were reviewed. Interesting the reviewer gave some Russian made Voshkod 6ZH1P-EV high marks. I was under the impression the Chinese/Russian tubes should be avoided. These are selling on fleabay now for 36.00 per pair.

Interesting little tube, and seems to be a match from the description. I like Voskhod tubes for the most part; but those tubes are more expensive than I would expect.
