Thumbs up B&K On it's way

After an extensive search and a lot of store visits, I decided to get a B&K AVR 507. I initially was deciding between the Pioneer Elite 49txi and the Sunfire Ultimate. A couple of weeks ago I was able to do a head-to-head of the two and gave the nudge to the Pioneer. Then decided to take a look at the B&K. Did a head-to-head the other day in another store and really liked the sound of the B&K better. It does not have all of the bells and whistles of the Elite but the sound was better to my ears. So, I have one on the way and it should be in by mid next week. The shame of it all is that I will be out of town until Friday. So, it will have to wait until next weekend before I can hook it all up. I can't wait!

Yeah, no kidding, nice pick up. Let us know how you like it after you've had the chance to use it for a while.

    Nice upgrade Rodney. Congrats.

Your system is very similar to my system a few months ago. I had a Yamaha RX-V1300 with RT speakers. I upgraded to Rotel / LSi (plan on a center too soon).

Just curious as to why the Yamaha didn't tickle your fancy anymore. Wondering if its the same opinion that I had without bashing the yammer (not a bad receiver for its price).

I have been very happy with Yamaha receivers for a number of years now. I had a couple of things that made me look to make a move. 7.1, DD EX, and THX support were the main driving factors. More power was a pretty big factor as well. Not that I need more volume but better sound by having more power. Also, looking for something a little warmer sounding as well. Still, I think in the under $1500 category the Yamaha receivers are some of the best out there. I think they have just missed the boat on some of the newer technologies. They are going down the front effects path rather than 7.1 and nobody is really doing that. I actually looked at the Rotel RSP 1066, RB 1050 and 1075 together for 7.1 and really liked it. The pricing came out to pretty comparable to the B&K. Soundwise, I felt they were pretty comparable as well. A lot of it came down to space. I really do not have the space or facilities, at this point, for 2 power amps and a processor and the RSX 1075 had good power but I would still have to add a RB 1050 and take up a lot of space. So, sticking with the integrated path, at this point. We will see how it goes!

I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Not familiar with the B&K but the receiver sounds like an absolute killer through any forum reads! Good Luck.
