Default Center Channel Match for Polk TC265i

I am switching to an in wall setup to accomate the spousal approval factor. I purchased the Polk TC265 in walls for my left and right mains a couple of years ago durning construction but never installed them. Can anyone recomend a timbre matched center channell in the Polk lineup? They don't have any listed for the TC series.

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to Club Polk.
I think your only option is going to be another Tc265 for your center. If you don't go in-wall for your center, the match would be the Rti series.
    Good luck.

I have 16 on center studs. To position the 265 horizontally would require significant modification to the walls.

As an alternative could I split matching 65i's for the center to in effect have an 8 ohm center?

Power is not an issue as I my amp should have no problem driving the 8ohm. Is this even possible, and if so how would i go about doing it?

    Thanks in advance.

I am not sure you can split the center channel into two speakers, I believe it would make them 4 ohms. If your receiver can handle that impedance, I don't know how they should be wired.
Could you install the Tc265 vertically? I know that's less than ideal but it's an option. Have you considered going with a phantom center?

I use my reciever as a pre-pro with a seperate amp that can handle 8 ohms. By phantom, do you mean operate it without a center using the L & R?

What about using a singl TC65 places horizontally. According to the product description.....

"Sold singly (packaged one per box). Single units can be used for center channel applications in stealth installs! "

Could set the speaker size on my processer to small and the L&R to Medium or Large.

Am I losing alot using a single driver instead of the doubel on the 265?

Did you by chance get an answer to this question? I am having the same exact problem. I dont want to lay the 265 vertical, but also do not want to have a single driver, since the center is most important speaker in set up.

hopefully you get this and can update me. Thank you

    Has anyone heard the TC265i?

How do they compare to a speaker like the RTI4?

I would prefer a bookshelf or tower but they would be in the way of a walkway.

We have the TC80i's for our surround speakers, and they were nice upgrade to the RC80i's they replaced. I believe this is a similar "Series X to Series Y" comparison that you mention above. If I'm off on that relative comparison, hopefully someone else can chime in...

The TCi's were also better matched tonally for our fronts/center, which were also upgraded about the same time. We went from an RTi70/CSi40 setup to an RTi A7/CSi A6 setup.

Regarding two center channel speakers, one of my older Yamaha receivers actually had two center speaker connections on the back (R-V1103, much older model). I don't think that's a feature Yamaha's have anymore, but worth checking if other mfr's might provide that...but could be an expensive option.

Good luck with trying to find a good in-wall center for your setup. It's a shame that you'd need to rework the wall/studs to fit a TC265i horizontally. But as others have mentioned, two mid/woofer drivers in a center is better than one...
