Default Help finding a Quiet HDD for Escient player

I have one of the old Escient H40 Firefox music players. It's called a music server but it's basically a component ipod.

It has a Western Digital 40 gig IDE 3.5 HDD and it sound like a jet engine at taxi. I'm going to upgrade to a larger HDD but I want the most quiet one I can find but it's difficult as I can't find sound levels published. The floor walkers at the stores are way beyond clueless.

Any suggestions? I'm pretty sure I need to stay with an IDE but I'm not absolutely sure that an adaptor wouldn't work. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You could probably still find a Samsung Spinpoint 40-120GB IDE. They are/were quiet drives.

I wonder if some Dynamat may help reduce some noise.

I'm sure if you buy a current model IDE from Western Digital that you would be fine.

Not 100% sure of this: Maybe a 5400rpm drive would make less noise than a 7200?

    This drive states:

WD Caviar SE boasts the lowest operating temperature of any hard drive in its class. Quiet – Noise reducing technology results in a nearly silent drive, perfect for home and business environments.
