    Question audiogon reliability?

found great deal on a adcom amp on audiogon today.Pics look great, guy says it wrks fine but he only has 3 feedbacks(all positive),that being said.
If there was any problems w/transaction what is your option for followup?
Are u just at the whim of paypal?
    Anyone have expeirence w/ audiogon?
Had a ebay issue with paypal in the past,no one could speak english and it took 2wks and a million phone calls w/ bank and paypal to straighten out so im lil apprehensive about them.
    thanks

Certainly feedback is important, what was the feedback for, buyer or seller ?

I have used Audiogon and have had no issues.

I do use paypal as a last resort if the seller is problematic.

Suggest sending an email to the seller with your phone number and see if he is willing to talk to you then you can make an informed decision.

I'd consider that a good mix of feedbacks. I've bought several items on A-gon and had one item I needed to return. The seller took it back no problem... I ate the shipping though.

There are boneheads everywhere, but I've run into less of them on Agon.

You need to self-quality that the individual is trustworthy. Just because they use a particular service to sell their gear does not mean anything. E-mail the seller, communicate with him/her, ascertain for yourself if you think they have good communication skills and are trustworthy, and make the decision. Do not rely on PayPal, Audiogon, EBay, USPS, or any other service to help you -- they might, but it should be a last resort only.

Good advice given by tcrossma. I have bought a number of things from audiogon and have been very happy for the most part. My issues came as a result of the shipping company, specifically UPS. Maybe I've been lucky, but never had any issues with FedEx. I'm sure others have had the opposite experience. I would at least make sure the owner has all the original packing material.

I have purchased a few things on audiogon and had no problem. There is a feedback system and like others said you can talk to the seller but some sound good and bs but don't deliver. Paypal protects purchases on ebay pertty well.(Since they are owned by them) I have heard people have had difficulty getting their money back from paypal with purchase outside of ebay.
As far as shipping,UPS is one of the worst with filing and collecting insurance claims for damage. I use Fedex first, then USPS. I have had to file two claims with USPS for damage and had no problem collecting . Same for Fedex.

That works both ways. If I'm selling an item and a prospective buyer cannot type a proper sentence, I want nothing to do with them.

To the OP, for maximum protection pay with a credit card thru PayPal.
