Ok...
I got all new speakers for my HT. B&W CDM-1 for mains, B&W CDM-CNT for center... Here is the problem: I got Totem Rokk for rears. B&W are 8-Ohm speakers, Totem are 4-Ohm speakers. Even though Onkyo is supposed to handle 4-Ohm speakers, it just doesn't look like it's able to drive Totems in any way, shape or form :(.
I am looking to get Rotel 1075 5-channel amplifier. Would it make sense to use Onkyo as a preamp only and let Rotel drive all 5 speakers? Onkyo is "rated" at 130 Watts/ch "2 channels driven". Rotel is rated at 5x120 watts /ch / 8 ohms "all channels driven" (http://www.rotel.com/UK/Products/Pro...=3&Tab=1&Pic=1)
Would I have significant improvement if I were to add this amp? It just feels like a waste of Onk... My B&Ws were demoed in the store with complete Rotel system (CD/Pre/Amp), and they sounded fantastic. They sound great with Onk, but the thought that Rotel is still for sale.. grrr...
Thanks!
