I just added a M-282 Power Amplifier to my system, but in my opinion, nothing has noticably changed. Sound quality, nor 'loudness'.
Have it hooked from reciever (Pre-out's) to Amplifier, to Front Speakers.
Thoughts?

Your receiver already has as much or more power than that Onkyo amp...you need a better power amp...
One with at least 200 or 250 watts in 8 ohms per channel.....you're not going to hear a difference with an Onkyo 'accessory' amp meant to power extra channels in a HT system.

I'm not surprised at all. The 876 actually puts out it's full rated power according to reviews I have read. All you did was decrease the power output by switching to the 282. And with both being the same brand, I wouldn't expect any change in sound quality either.
Take the amp back. That's nothing like the Onkyo M-series of yore.
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.
You need significantly more power than your receiver or significantly more sensitive speakers to notice much difference in output.
The M282 isn't a bad amp. It's just not much if any better than your receiver. BTW, sometimes just going to an amp with a similar power rating, but a much better ability to drive low impedence loads can yield a definite improvement. Say, a 100W NAD, Adcom or Rotel, etc.

Thanks for all of the replies and that's what I was afraid of. Makes complete sense now that you've explained it.
