Default What computer program do you use for music playback?

Just as the title says, what do YOU use? I used to use foobar2k, then caved in and used iTunes for a while. I'm put out with that option now, so I'm looking into foobar2k again, as well as Media Monkey.

What else is out there that you like? Why do you like it? Why is it the best, at least for you?

This is a great question. I currently use itunes since i have my powerbook connected to the HT. I have had mixed feelings about it recently and was looking for another music player but am limited by the options available for the mac. Anyone have any other suggestions for mac applications that handle large media libraries like itunes does?

I'm having a bit of a problem understanding this question. Is it mostly about MP3 music or all storage formats including lossless. Or is it more about how programs handle indexing and filing of music? Because I store everything in lossless format...and as far as I can tell there is not much of a difference between one lossless format and another..the important thing is that you get all the info duplicated so you can access it from the hard disk using superior equipment and DACs, no?

To clarify, I was originally asking about programs simply for playback of audio files stored on your computer, whether they be mp3, .WAV, AAC, .flac, .ogg, etc. However, it would also be nice if the program had a library type setup similar to iTunes so I could peruse my collection through the program, play my whole collection on random, etc.

Any extra features the program may have with automated organization, tagging, etc the programs have would be interesting, as I'm not really used to having those features, or at least not used to taking advantage of them.

If you have any strong opinions on various music formats, please do share. I know about them in general, but if you can add to that, go for it!

I've used media monkey before and wasnt too impressed with it -- I'm back to iTunes for organizing my music library. But i think i'll try VideoLan (VLC) on the advice of previous posts here and other threads.

Before I got a Squeezebox, I used Foobar.

Actually, I still use Foobar to add ReplayGain tags to flac files, convert flac to mp3 for portable use, and edit tag info.

I just like how logical and uncluttered Foobar is.
