    Default some cc distortion

So I have a Csi5 as you can see. I think this topic has been discussed before but to no resolution so lets see if we can resolve it this time around. I am having some center channel distortion:

This distortion is occurring with several different sources including blu ray, dvd and I believe I heard some from the dolby digital on an hd station on the television. This distortion is only characterized by vocals. This distortion really only occurs when people speak and I would say with some degree of certainty that it mainly occurs when males speak. I believe it is occurring more frequently when the voices are loud or there is a sudden increase in volume such as a man yelling. The distortion sounds like if you yelled into a cheap microphone and played it back and you noticed it distorted your voice.

I have an amp hooked up to the csi5 if that is any help. Also I have read that some other people have had this happen to them but I was unable to find a good solution to the problem. The rest of my gear should be shown in my signature. Thanks for your help.

Hello Royalty, based upon your description it sure does sound like one or more of the mid-woofers in the center channel has been compromised. Listen to each individual woofer in the center channel to see if you can spot which one or which one(s) are the culprit.

I'm not thinking it's your amp at this point but just to eliminate that as being a possible cause, swap the TFM-35 with the Audiosource Amp One for the center channel only and see if the issue remains. You might also want to double check all connections that lead from the HK downstream to the CC, whether it be an SC or an IC.
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

I would love to hear what you come up with on this, I have just encountered the exact same problem with my CSi5 and it's driving me nuts. I noticed it the other day when I started playing God of War 3 whenever Kratos started talking loudly/yelling. (read: the entire game) I've added an amp since then (xpa-3) and I still hear it so I'm guessing it's one of the drivers. If that needs to be replaced does Polk sell replacements? I got the center slightly used and I can't imagine it has warranty.
