Crazy Surround Bar Idea . . .

What if I purchased a SurroundBar 50 and a 5 channel amp. I use the 5 channel amp to power my RTia9, CSia6 and FXia6. I use the speaker outs of my Pioneer SC-27 to power the SurroundBar. My two subs do the bass duty.

I'm thinking of placing the Surround Bar above my Projector Screen or just removing my center channel from the configuration and using the SurroundBar as a quasi center.

I think I can get a SurroundBar for around $200 to $300. Is this just a dumb investment? I'm temped to just try it. Anyone done this yet?

How would you hook it up? Is there a way to just send it one channel's signal and utilize all drivers for that one channel?

Or are you going to attempt to use the surroundbar as it was intended in conjunction with the rest of the setup?

In conjunction with the rest of the setup. Both systems will be working in full surround, except maybe the center if I remove it.

I would personally put this in the "dumb investment" file. :p

But i've been wrong before. Too many things just don't match up. Tweeters, the fact that you're going to end up doubling all your channels, etc etc etc. (don't listen to two pairs of speakers in 2-channel, why here?)

Good points to all. I just want to buy a surroundbar, I think. I wonder if my girl will let me put one under her Plasma.

Ahem. Now that I'm done w/ that, the surroundbar needs an AVR. An AVR needs to be turned on; the speakers on her TV need to be turned off for everything to sound right. If it's her plasma, I'm reading that as you don't live with her. See where I'm going here?


Oh and back to the original question... I could be wrong, but my guess is that wouldn't sound too hot.
