    Default specific frequency speakers.

say for the sake of discussion i have 4 speakers all identicle in a verticle array and have a range of 8k to 16k hertz. would it sound better if they were all given the full signal or if each speaker had 2k hertz range only.

lol buddy im trying to do all kinds of stuff. i want to build a biult in soundsystem for my attic/billiards room that has range specific sound in different parts of the room. i have all kinds of space ind would like to use it. my thought was this. if a trumpet sounds off at low frequency then climbs up the scale it would "walk "around the room if the speakers were freq specific. say 2 ft apart and 2 k hertz apart. or it would climb the wall if it was a verticle array.

You are asking for ALL KINDS of unwanted phasing & reflection issues with your proposed design....

I think it'd be cheaper and easier just to indulge in some hallucinogens before entering the attic. ;)

That would be the best idea. A few drops of LSD will achieve the same effects, and more...and it's much cheaper and easier to execute. The only problem comes in enjoyment day after day...It can get taxing. Some people might call that a problem...but I'd call it "really, really liking music".

But, do you have any clue WHAT you're doing? :p

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Smile Have line array using 'Audience A3' 3" drivers..

Have a line array using four 'Audience A3' 3" drivers per speaker in a Dayton (Parts Express) cabinet --

Next, plan to add four more A3 3" drivers on side/rear to get a "4+4" configuration in a new Dayton 1/2 cu ft. (currently use 1 cu ft Dayton cab) rectangular cabinet (see reviews of Audience Clairaudient speakers - Google search). May try quasi-aperiodic loading rather than sealed/passive radiator, etc.

These A3 drivers cover 80 Hz on up past 20kHz, and have amazing dynamics and midrange "palpability".

Do a google search for "Bessel array" and you might find something interesting.

yes indeed. the bessel array. i wonder how the values might change if mounted on a convex surface. my other immediate thought would be the 7x7 would be an interesting experiment if mounted on a pyramid, inverted, hanging from the ceiling.
