Bi Amping my 2.3s

Ok a couple of questions.I have bi amped my sda 2.3s and would like to know if I have done this right.I have one amp on the left channel, one amp on the right channel. Both amps are on speaker set A. The left amp has the left channel running the lows and right channel running the highs.The right amp is wired the same is this correct.My amps are rated at 125watts 8ohms and 212watts 4ohm and are not bridgeable.the speakers are biwired jumpers removed it sounds great and the sda is working just want to make sure I'm wired right THANKS

That's all wrong, don't turn your set up on again until you get it right. I don't have the time right now, but we'll get you straightened out soon.

What F1nut said above +1 about turning on your rig again. It seems the way you have it set up now is that you have a non-common ground issue and will damage your amps and/or speakers.

What amps are you using?

There are a couple of ways to bi-amp your 2.3s. The way I had bi-amp'd my 1.2TLs was, with the jumpers removed from your speaker's high and low binding posts, to connect one amp's left & right channels to the low posts respectively left and right on each speaker. Then take the other amps left & right channels and connect them repectively to the left and right high posts on your speakers.

This assumes the amps you are using are the same or capatible with each other for instance, I used Adcom 565 mono blocks strapped together (making them common ground) on the lows, and a Parasound HCA1000A stereo amp on the highs. The Adcom's put out 300 wpc and the Parasound 125 wpc. I put the higher powered amps to power the lows because the low & mid frequencies demand more dynamic power.

It sounded very, very good and the two amps really complimented each other as the Adcom had the balls to power the low and the Parasound had the sweetness to power the highs.

I used two sets of speaker cable (four individual cables) to do this. You can buy bi-amp wires. Which ever you decide to use make sure they are good quality speaker cables.

Ok don't hit me to hard but my amps are a pair of kenwood km 106 from the late 80s have had them around for some time my proton D1200 is out goes into protection mode and is in for repair

Not to jack the thread, but I have a quick question. Forgive my ignorance, but if you connect one amp to the left channel on the pre amp and the other amp to the right channel, then connect one amp to the lows on each speaker and one amp to the highs, wouldn't that alter the stereo imaging? The left channel would be powering both the left and right speakers, if I understand correctly, and the same for the right channel.

Help me clear this up, because I need to help a friend biamp his speakers and I don't want to damage anything. Thanks as always,

I'm not sure if you are referring to my post about biamping and are just not explaining yourself well but the method I explained above will not cause any problems with stereo imaging or damage if the amps are the same or compliment each other as far as the stereo imaging is concerned.

E.g. I was afraid to use the Adcom 565 mono blocks on the lows and a tube amp on the highs as they are two different animals and usually have a major difference in slew rate which could cause the speed of the amps to differ among other things.

Also connecting one amp to the left channel and the other to the right channel will cause a problem as they are now non-common ground. There is a difference between horizontal biamping vs vertical biamping but right now the difference in set up escapes me. I'll check it out and chime in later.
