Also, I forgot to mention, for those that are not sure what type of Ethernet you have, jump to CAT6 or CAT6a, there is an incredible speed jump from the old CAT5 and CAT5e's.
I have 6a wherever possible, and 6 for my long run, as the 6a on www.tigerdirect was either 28' or 1000', where the CAT6 was available in more lengths. The cabling does jump higher and Wikipedia can explain why better than I can, but trust me, 6 and 6a are incredibly fast compared to 5 and 5e Ethernet. It is all in the insulation and cross talk omission.
    Hope this helps.

I was just thinking the same thing bobman...I mean, I can see posting about the Office thing since a lot of people could be interested.

But...what the hell does CAT5/6 have to do with anything?

I got Office 2007 a couple of years back. It took some getting used to as Microsoft decided to change the entire menu structure by going to ribbons. (IMHO, a very hypocritical thing to do, since if your software product did not follow their former menu structure, they would not certify it is as "Microsoft Ready" or something like that).

Anyway, it was initially noticed that I really did not get greater functionality than Office 2003. In fact, that crappy ribbon structure caused lost productivity as I needed to hunt where they hid former menu items. The feature additions in 2007 did unconsciously get used and eventually internalized. I realized this the other day when doing some quick spreadsheet work on a 2003 install. I couldn't as easily do some things that have been internalized as a couple of mouse clicks with 2007.

I hate Office 2007, can't stand the interface. I 'get' that things change, but I don't like it at all.

It's not a matter of "having to do with anything". It just seems like blatant spam. A newish member doing two posts in a row pimping external websites? Whatever.

The above posts looked like spam. That's it. Just a comment. I think anyone would agree that they do.

Have you done tests to back this up? If so, what equipment did you use? What lengths did you test?

There's an app that skins it to look like the older classic version. http://www.addintools.com/

Will do the same when the '07 to '10 price upgrade is favorable. How backwards compatible is the '10 files to '07 versions?

This is a very important question. The entire business world I deal with for very serious matters are in '07 Office. The laggards remain in '02 but they also spend big bucks for services that my firm provide, so we are very mindful of that situation as well.
