    Default Tube Spring Clamp Retainer

Tube spring clamp retainers came on my new amp which supposedly hold the El34s in place; and at high tension to boot. However, it's not like they are going to go anywhere if the retainers were not in place. Does anyone use spring retainers on their tubes? Would there be any positives or negatives to removing them?

I haven't seen those before.....yuck. Some form of tube damper I suppose. I think you'd be fine getting rid of them.

Strange looking device. It would only hold them in place for shipping. It might do some dampening. Jesse's right, take it off!

I'll remove them and see if it makes a difference. I don't think it will, but I just wouldn't have to deal with them any more anyway.

I realized that these tube clamps are used on some guitar amps, and I'm assuming that is because the amps are being moved some much.

Spring retainers removed and amp looks much better. Not to mention that the only thing I could think of when I was removing the retainer was a guitar amp reverb spring.
